Morning everyone, busy weekend. (Sorry for the rant) As you know I work for Verizon in Logistics. Basically I am responsible in part to manage a 41 million dollar inventory for the video build here in Mass. One of the problems we are having is say we go into Framingham spend about 6 million to place new fiber so that town can have video from Verizon. When we finish we need to go before the town and then ask for a video license to provide tv. Some towns do and others do not.
Well now thanks to Duval Patrick, new Governor in Mass, he is trying a proposal to repeal a state law dating to 1915 that exempts telecommunications companies from paying local taxes on their poles, wires, and other network equipment placed along municipal streets. So what this means is the money we are taking to build the towns with tv service that money will now go to pay for this tax if it passes. Which means higher phone bills to you the customer.
Now the real problem we are having is this. Northern Mass.... Me, Nh, and Vt were sold to Fairpoint Communications for 27 billion and the deal should be finalized for end of 2007. If this tax passes the likely hood is that Mass and Ri will go to the cable companies who already have a video license in every town. Fairpoint may eventually take it over but for now they have limited finaces. So then Verizon is already talking of moving there video network to Nj. The whole state of Nj is approved for video and no hassells about get a license to provide video. So why then would Verizon waste its time and money in New England??
So that could be 10's of thousands of jobs gone. Namely myself and my wife. My wife works for the customer's with disabilities center. Her group was the first in the country.

I was at that show the day after my birthday in the 3rd row!!! If you got it? Sure I'd take it!! I actually have a boot leg of the show on cassette. My friend keeps saying..."There's those funny mushrooms again and look at all the purty colors!!!"

Did you talk to the wife yet about the Beacon??? Also wondering on arrangements cause now that I have upgraded my seat for the 31st, one of Fig's friends is taking my extra which will mean 4 of us driving in Alec's car with Cymbals and PA. This will be interesting!! LMAO!

Do you think you may stop in Doc's Sat?? If so we can talk about some sort of plan to get you there and all!!

i totally agree about suporting Bill Ecktor (aka WillieHoward).

for the life of me i dont understand why HTN doesnt offer their employees health benefits. seems like its something that is just not done in the music industry and its a pity. I know Yonrico struggles with huge medical bills as well.

my hospital stay and surgery was a total of $72K. thank GAWD i had insurance....THANK GOD.

Afternoon all.

Brother T, continued loving vibes to you and yours. Bless y'all.

I agree Linnie. They should have some sort of health coverage for their employees. My hubby's medical bill back in 2004 was over $100k. Thank goodness for insurance, indeed. Otherwise, I'll be at the fundraiser with some $$$ for Brother Bill.

Hope everyone's having a good day.

Did someone say Gregg?????

Just told from my boss all new cable orders placed on hold for Verizon FIOS. Sue I may join you in Naples! Looks as if Verizon is giving up the fight on this tax law.

Yes, I did and was happy to see it. I will have to see who is coming to visit and when this summer (I think a bunch of my in-laws), and hope I have nothing going on then. This is a yearly 2 day event called Guitarfest and it is FREE!!!! Leroy Parnell (who a couple of the Carol's on this website love and promote) will also be there. I don't think there is a breakdown yet of who is playing on which day.

Hello!!!!!! The bond is $50,000 not $10,000. Should be harder for him to get out.

Dickey's gonna be in Co. Huh? Copper MTN looks close to you Jack.

Thanks for all the kind words. T

As long as Kristen is far away from him. I hope things are settling down.
Yes re: Dickey. The ski towns try to get summer visitors and this one does the guitarfest thing for free. You can sit at the bottom of the ski slope and watch the bands and/or wander the shops/bars/restruants around the town square. I've also seen Oteil and the Peacemakers there for free for a spring thing. I think it is about 90 minutes away.

I was going to do the Skynyrd show there last year but then I ended up with Mule tickets to the Belly Up so I went to Aspen instead. That concert thing they had going at Snowmass was really good too. Oteil's band was there too.

Thanks for the update Matt. You may want to spread the word out that a great friend of ours from Framingham has passed after a long battle with MS! Leo Mailhiot. His other brother Gregg rides alot with all the guy's so it may be that Gush and everyone know already. His wake is Thursday from 4-8.
