Man indicted in concert beating death

STAFF REPORTS

Published on: 02/21/07

A Fulton County grand jury indicted Michael Scott Axley, 25, of Douglasville on felony murder and aggravated assault charges for allegedly punching and killing a man at a concert in July after they got into an argument over a hat.

According to witnesses, Axley punched Andy Richardson, 30, after the two exchanged words and Axley took Richardson's cap during a Korn concert at Hi-Fi Buys Ampitheater last July.

Richardson fell unconscious onto a concrete sidewalk and Axley allegedly punched Richardson again. Richardson suffered skull fractures and severe head injuries. He died two days later at Grady Memorial Hospital.

When does this excuse for a human being go on trial?

The article cited tones down the initial report, which featured witnesses that attested that this guy and his cohorts had been in several altercations before the one resulting in the young mans death. In short, these scumbags went to a show to start fights. This is the kind of activitity that bolsters the opinions of folks (especially parents of teens) who imagine that nothing good goes on at music shows.

I have been trying to follow this since it occured. The fact that something like this happened at ANY music show really disturbs me. The fact that it happened in one of our back yards just pisses me off.

I'm afraid I'd have to disqualify myself from the jurror pool on this one. I just hope that the DA is able to select a panel of intelligent people. I will predict that this guy's defense blames the very music (Korn) that his client allegedly went to see on that fateful evening.

The music, society as a whole, the wrong tennis shoes as a child - anything but the sad fact that his client killed a man over a HAT. I'm afraid you may be right on this, Rusty ... that seems to be the way many of these type of things end up.

A young man was recently murdered at a club show in Asbury Park NJ by a gang member. Apparently the reason he was killed was because his friend was wearing a Lynyrd Skynyrd shirt. A Member of a gang whose sole purpose seems to be starting fights at concerts has been arrested.
It's pretty sad when people that are at a show to enjoy the same music can't get along for a couple of hours
