ON September 12th, 2001 one day after the 911 trajedy I was in Osaka, Japan and wandered into a bar named the "Secret Love"...( Gawd, Hitomi Soda was so beautiful !!!)
I was sitting at the bar and a Japanese man came and sat down next to me. His English was so much better than my Japanese skills.
They had a Kareoke machine and we were listening to the same old songs no matter where you go..My new found friend said to me...I wish they would play some Allmans...I nearly crapped my pants when I heard this...I'm 6000 miles from home in an unfamiliar place and couldn't believe my ears. A Japanese brother sits down next to me of all people ! Hitomi was so gracious and gave us a Kareoke menu and we sang Brue Sky ( gomen nasai) had several drinks and shared our love of the Allman's music.
Kanpai !

If this was the P&C Stadium show, I've been looking for it also. phillybob lists it in the trading section, but I've never had him respond to emails, posts, etc. LMK if you have any luck with this.

I just ordered this CD from Amazon. I found this one on Hittin The Note and liked it. I already have "Live at American University". I was wondering if anyone else has this CD and can give their opinion on it. (talking about Stony Brook CD)

Hmm..Tough one. Here goes...

Imagine - Lennon
Blue Sky - ABB
Wouldnt It Be Nice- Beach Boys
Box Of Rain - Dead
Nowhere Man - Beatles (one of Johns best compositions, i think.)

This was a "greatest songs ever written" thread.
I still like these choices

I almost walked away from this place till a certain PHOTO taking dude showed me the light

I sure would like to find some post from the old site. I remember posting back in the 90's on a DOS based system.

First came here in '99 to find out who that hot young guitar player was.

I think my first post was to offer up some great duane shows that a Deadhead
had given me in thanks for setting up a server for him to do some ftp trades
of some Grateful Dead stuff. That was on the old web site.

Ended up trading with TopDroog and Bird72. Got some good Beacon shows
from Randy and caught the Beacon Fever.

Let's see - no pets right now, but three kids under the age of 9...act like animals alot...
We had one of those cheap Walmart fish but it died about a month ago, so we flushed it down the toilet.

We're getting a collie/shepard mix from a local shelter next week.

By the way - those kids of mine are all vegetarians, never ate meat in their lives.
Couple nights ago the 3 year old asked "Dad if the new dog dies, are you gonna eat it? (he figures eating any animal is crazy, sees no difference between a cow, pig, chicken or a dog...)
I said "No, we would bury it in the back yard", he says, "no, we have to flush it down the toilet!"

Ha, maybe you had to be there...

Hey, I'm a peach pit now!

--------------------------------------------
So, now it's 4 kids, more fish, and that dog has come and gone...

Hello, folks - first time poster, here. Have been following the Bros. for many years, seen many incarnations of the band. First show was at a local club when Duane was still alive (no, was not really legal at the time), next show was a little over a year later and Duane was gone (Berry still with the band). Have seen the Brothers with and without Dickey - enjoyed it all. Really like the present line-up (as well as the solo projects of current members - Songlines currently in rotation in my cd changer). Anyway, hoping to make friends, possibly meet, some fellow music lovers. My sis and I wore out our vinyl copies of LAFE and EAP sometime in in the way-back years (am planning on treating her to a Beacon trip this year for one of those birthday's that end's in an '0'). I've been following things on this site for a couple of years - figured it's time I introduced myself (oh yeah - I'm Deb...Lola is my furry friend/dog-thinks-its-a-person). Pleased to meet you!

Okay, I got in during the last 6 months or so of the old site, then migrated over here shortly after the site was launched.

Here was my very first post at the "general" HTW site, not ABB, Dickey, etc. See the link on the left that says "HTW Home?" That's what I'm talking about. It was in the "Fan Bios" section of the forum under the title "A little about me and the ABB" It still has my original signature -

quote:

My name is Randy and I'm 33 years old. I'm married and have four children in a kind of Brady Bunch for the new millenium family.
I have an M.A. from the U of I @ Chicago where I'm currently an administrator.

I became a 1st degree ABB fan in the mid 80's when a guitar instructor I had suggested we work on Little Martha. I bought a "greatist hits" record which inluded that, Statesboro, and Jessica, among others.
I became a 2nd degree fan in the early nineties thanks to my first ABB show (8/18/90?) and the acquisition of The Filmore Concerts set.
I became a 3rd degree fan at the beginning of 2001 with my discovery of Derek Trucks who led me back to the ABB, then to the old web site, which in turn led me to Mule, PLQ, and lots of other great music, CD-R trading, and this community in general.
Peace.

This is the oldest one of mine I could find, its a few months after I first registered...

further down the thread Chuck (Wharfy) is inviting me to to PNC to what has become Wharfstock, the start of a wonderful friendship.

"First got into the original band in '69. Saw them the weekend the Fillmore closed then a couple of months later at the Central Thetaer in Passaic, NJ. Saw them many times after that in NY anf NJ.
I live in central NJ one town over form Asbury Park. Going to PNC in a few days to see the brothers."

posted on 7/31/2006 at 06:59 PM
Hey All
Just want to say Hi, and respond to the Question For Real or Not?
I assure you all that the collar I had up for auction is real. As a Duane Allman fan since the night I saw him at the Filmore east 12/69, I would not discredit his name, nor my name with a bogus auction, although I'm aware that there have been fake auctions of Duane stuff. Not Mine. I respect his memory and listen to him every day.
The shirt was tastefully, and thoughtfully cut up and given and sold to the appropriate persons. Why I was shone upon to own a piece I won't question, but I had no real intention of selling it. I also now have the Yoke of the shirt with the label still intact, you may have seen that up also for auction. That is also real, and is for sale. the collar is enough for me.
The $50,000 price tag was to assure I didn't lose it, I didn't think anyone would bid so high. I put it up more to keep the memories alive. Not many of us left from the old days. We're a dwindling breed us old originals as we have joked about.
I see a lot of young kids at the Brother's concert's, and that's a good thing.
I had a lot of question about thie shirt, and about replica's. There is, and they a re great!! A subtle version, but none the less very reconizable...write for pictures. I am not selling them, but know who is and i can referyou to them. They got Gregg's OK at the Beacon last year I have heard,
Feel free to write and ask any questions you may have. I have been looking in for a while, but this is the first time I have chimed in. i thought it was necessary.
Be well,
Peace
