I posted this in the cookbook sales thread but I wanted to put it out here in case you might miss it there.

I need some input everyone. I'm getting ready to place the order and I need an honest assessment of how many we should order. If we order 200, we almost have enough orders to pay for the printing and mail out of the book and we would be in a better position to start making money for the charities. If we order 300, we're still 70 books away from being in that position. The last book was specifically for something that directly impacts the people on here in a direct way and had a lot of support. This book is for charities that are more indirectly related and I'm in the questioning phase of the project where I'm wondering if we will realistically sell all 300 fast enough to be able to send a decent contribution in at one time.

So, here is my question....how many do we order.....200 or 300?

Ann, I'm tempted to say 300, but I'm not feelin the same enthusiasm this time.Course that's just me, but I will still hit the GB and see if we can get any positive responses

Tough call Ann. I'm an optimist, and I would go for the 300. We have the Beacon coming up, and Wanee...will they allow sales there? Maybe you can get some signed, and auction them off on ebay?
We go through this with the shirts. we can only order 3 dozen..no less, and we only sell them 10 at a clip. We may have to sit on some for a while, but they will go. i think the same might happen with the books. How many did you sell the first time?

Mr. SkyPuppy has a point. I'll be happy with whatever you decide. We'll get 'em sold!

We sold 250 of the last book but we also had a place to take the other ones. With this particular cause, we don't have that option. I'm leaning towards 200 but I'll hold off sending in the order for a couple of days if you all want to see what you can do.

Now's the time to speak up folks. I've always said these books wouldn't happen without your support. If you have some thoughts, I'd like to hear them!

If they could be ready to sell at the Beacon parties, I would think you could sell them between the sweeties party on the friday and the leftcoast jam on the saturday. The Wannee suggestion is good too.

for some reason i think alot of people want to order the book, but just cant get the stamp/money thing together.

having some on hand to sell at the different gatherings would most likely be a welcomed thing. Besides, alot of people outside of this board go to those things and don't know about it.

i say order 300, but how much more dough do you need to make that happen?

I've had people PM me with information that their order is on the way which means we can order 200 free and clear, postage and all. It's going to take at least 50 or more presales on top of that to pay for 300. I'm still leaning towards 200 now and if they come in before the Beacon, we can figure how to get them there for that and Wanee. I've aleady got something in the works along that line....but they have to be ordered in the next day or so to even hope to get them back in time for the Beacon shows.

We have until tonight to decided for sure and the money goes out in tomorrow's mail and the book will be submitted Friday. My deepest thanks to all who have written here and by PM.

And Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I just put the order for 200 in the mailbox. To everyone who has already bought books or who have told me you're planning to, you're covered. To everyone else....get 'em while we got 'em is the new slogan for the day.

Even without any more orders than have already been spoken for, this project is a success. We've finished the book, gotten commitments for enough sales to pay for it and from here on out the project will start generating money for the charities. Excellent job everyone!!! You're 2 for 2!!!
