Anybody check out the new Beacon website? Doesn't look very Beacon-ish IMO, shape of things to come

Actually, I don't find anything wrong with the website. It looks pretty good. I'm more worried about the security and what they are gonna do when people start lighting up. It could get ugly if people think it's gonna be like it always has been. A security guard told me at one of the Mule shows it's gonna be strictly enforced and they are expecting people to get bounced. They are probably gonna want to stretch their muscles a little to show who is boss. I guess we'll find out what happens at Ratdog. I'm going to opening night and I hope I don't see security wearing those blue blaizers they wear at Madison Square Garden. That will be a bad first sign.

SRO tickets were also an issue with the old management- the Fire Marshall was the source of the trouble. I believe two years ago, they had to cancel a bunch of SRO tickets after they were sold.

I heard the same things from talking to security people at this year's Mule run, a couple of folks said they were resigning in anticipation of the changes. That's kind of what I read into the slickness of the website, that things won't be the same.

At MSG you can't even smoke cigarette in the stairways now, where we used light up the wacky weed back in the day.
I'm afraid the Tijuana Tareytons will not fly at the Beacon anymore.

I HOPE I'M WRONG

just a brief word from a ny person familiar with the new ownership--things WILL change--if not this year, certainly by 2008---the dolan family will NOT allow the Beacon to be the way it is today---whether the many changes,in look, style,& atmosphere start this year--maybe some big changes--but don't get overconfident because sooner, rather than later, the Beacon as we know it will not be the same.....if the current security staff is no longer there,i would take that as a first step in the wrong direction---i hope to go to see Levon Helm there on3/17 & will report back here---to main headquarters
