So we all love the allmans around here... I think

but we all have other artists we like... for those of you that have gotten shows from me I might have included a show by this man... he's one of my personal favorites... His name is Martin Sexton... Hope you enjoy... and curious to hear your thoughts...

He is considered a singer-songwriter... folk blues stuff mainly...

That's the first I've heard him. I like that a lot! I just checked and found he's coming to Ann Arbor on 4/11. Got me a couple tickets. Thanks for spreading the word.

Black Sheep is an outstanding record... That would be the first one I'd recommend... he's also got a new one coming out in april...

The archive has almost 150 shows of his, you can find them: http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3Aetree%20AND%20%2Fmetad ata%2Fcreator%3A%22Martin%20Sexton%22

This is one of my fav shows... just martin and his guitar on stage in columbus, oh... january 31st and the fire marshall wouldn't let the building turn on the heaters due to some violation... marty put on a great show and kept everyone warm...

Ross, I dig his fingerstyle blues! I have heard of him before but up until now he was just another name lumped in with a lot of other great acoustic solo guitarists I have yet to explore. Thanks for the links.

yea... he's not known as a guitar player, but I really enjoy his infectious style... very fun to play songs in that style (even for me - a only semi-capable guitarist)

He's mainly known for his voice... he actually opened for the Allman Brothers last year in california... but his style is so different that I don't know if the crowd would be "ready" to hear him before expecting a ABB set...

VERY soulful...

Just to let you all in on how stupid I am...after I bought the Martin Sexton tickets I went to write the date on my calendar and discovered I already had tickets to a Rodney Crowell show that night. The best part is that both Rodney and Martin will be playing in Ann Arbor, Michigan...but I have to be in North Carolina that week. I won't make either show. I hope no one else comes to Ann Arbor that week. I'll go broke buying tickets I can't use.
