UNREAL!!!! DEREK is clearly the most evolved, sophisticated & uniqe player---yes,these 2 guys are good---but,& i'm most certainly biased,DEREK is clearly doing things quite differently & terrifically awesome compared to anyone playing today---i've said it before---there is hendrix, the various "old" blues guys,DUANE & DEREK----then the others, who are also awesome, but on a different tier than the tops!!!!!!!!!! just my ears---others certainly see it differently & that's cool

after seeing the Eric/Derek show the last couple of nights I reckon Derek is streets ahead of anyone that has picked up a guitar ever...ok Clapton is god as someone in the crowd had to remind us. but god can't play a gi=uitar like Derek and whta about that joke about Duane and god? wasn't god a bit envious? how about a Derek/Duane cover?

totally agree. Very annoying that Mayer is the only one right side up on that cover too.
i agree, the cover seems wierd, but any time a musician like Derek gets his due, it is a good thing

A while back on this thread, there was a question - maybe from LInnieXX? - about Trey Anastasio being considered a guitar god. While he is not in my top 10 nor top 20, I do think he is a monster player, and I recommended "Lawn Boy" as proof.

I am now spinning the Phish album "Rift," which I had not heard in a while, and sure enough, the guy is just playing up a storm. The first song shows his chops, the second song shows his tasteful tonefulness, and it just goes on from there. I don't always dig Phish's silly lyrics, average vocals, or show-offness, but boy they sure had some great moments.
