From the PhilZone:

Phil in 2007 - Will We Get Our Phil?
Sorry, we don't have anything solid to report right
now except that we have heard reliable rumors that
Phil will do *something* this year and *not* maintain
an overextended hiatus after his successful fight
against prostate cancer. He'll be at Slims on 2.9 but
what else? Rumors are starting to circulate about a
possible P&F tour with the Allman Brothers Band.
Another rumor has it that Phil is planning a summer
tour with Bob Weir and Trey that will cross the
country twice consisting of a total of sixty shows
(supposedly a third will be on the East coast). Rumors
continue to say that John Molo will be on drums and on
the keys - Steve Winwood! Allegedly there will be a
revolving door of opening bands. If rumors are true,
they will be playing primarily stadiums where the
parking lots will open very early every day and fans
wil be allowed to camp overnight. Hang tight - we'll
get our Phil!

I like the idea; have seen and liked Phil and Friends every year they've come to Atlanta. Love the Winwood possibility but who says Joan Osborn(06) or Chris Robinson(05) can't sing? Phil? No, he can't sing. Every song but Box of Rain he sings, I wonder why he didn't hand off to Joan or Chris. Guessing D Betts won't return for ATL show like last year then.

Agree

I saw ABB with P&F several years ago, and the show was great. That version of P&F had Jimmy Herring and Warren on guitars. Have to say that that version of Phil's band has been the best IMHO compared to some of the recent incarnations.

Absolutely. This would be a great show. I saw Gov't Mule, Allman Brothers, & Phil & Friends together in 2002 at Deer Creek. One of my top 10 concert experiences. I hope this becomes more than a rumor.

Sounds like still in rumor stage but I think this would be great! And I would love to see Stevie Winwood sit in on keyboards and vocals with Phil & Co - that would be a dream!

Imagine this tour:

Summer 2007 - Back To The Good Old Days Tour featuring:
Gov't Mule / The Derek Trucks Band (each open half of the shows)
The Allman Brothers Band
The Dead (Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Billy Kreutzman, Mickey Hart, Trey Anastasio, Steve Winwood)

Doors: 3 PM
Gov't Mule / Derek Trucks Band: 4 PM - 5 PM
The Dead / ABB (rotating each night): 5:15 - 8:00
The Dead / ABB (rotating each night): 8:30 - 12:00

Venues would allow the late nights for the Dead if they are involved I bet, as has been the case in the past.

Yes, the version of Phil & Friends known as the Q is also my favorite. Every incarnation Phil has put together have been great though.

That Deer Creek show sounds like a wet dream I have had.

Replace Trey with Herring and Sless and now you're talking. I too like Trey, but not in the Dead.

Along with the anti-Trey, I completely understand why many hate him and his style of music, but seeing as it said Trey in the rumor, I thought I'd throw him in there. I personally love Trey and would love to see him aboard, but I could do with Warren, Jimmy Herring, Larry Campbell, Barry Sless, or any incarnation of those, or, best yet, Luther "the Man" Dickinson.

I do like Trey, just not with the Dead. Like seeing him with Phil. I just think the Dead is a little different vibe.

This seems to me to be the worst kind of rumor--the kind that totally contradicts what has already been officially announced. As far as we know, Phil is taking 2007 off. I hate to be a wet blanket, but until I hear differently from Phil himself, I'm not getting my hopes up.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Dead, and specifically I love Phil. If this was to happen, I would be pretty happy about it. The 2001 "Beach to the Peach" tour was lots of fun!

I hope this is a rumor with some substance and not another from the too-good-to-be-true category.

P&F with the ABB would promise to be a great musical experience for fans of both bands. Warren & Derek are both former members of P&F and would likely sit in, and Phil has sat in with the ABB a few times. I've never seen them together before, and would relish the opportunity should it happen. It would be much more satisfying than last summers' double bill with Tom Petty that I saw in Hartford.
