I was just playing an OZZY show from 15th Jan 82, listening to Mr. Crowley when I saw this thread and thought about the word ''polemically'' in the lyrics, and was just about to add it to the thread. How spooky.

I beliieve it is pompatice. Of course, since it's not in any dictionary that I have it's hard to argue the point.

Spooky indeed. In a past life I used to run Ozzy's on stage teleprompter (high pressure gig that was let me tell you) and every night I used to scroll past "polemically" and think, gotta look that up in the dictionary. 10 years on I finally got round to it today.

In "Firth of Fifth" by Genesis, Peter sings "Undinal songs urge the sailors on." When Phil Collins took over singing, he debated what sort of emotion he should put into the word "undinal."

How about "Warm smell of colitas rising up through the air"?

From Zappa's "I'm the Slime" he uses "pernicious" as in "vile and pernicious".

Look that up in your Funk and Wagnell!

How about "peradventure" from McCartney's English Tea...although I find it hard to catergorize that song under rock 'n roll.

And in seconds flat I was proselytized

You'll need to turn your volume up. It's a bit low on this video.

I might weigh in on this later, but for now, I always found it curious that Pink Floyd could find a use for "Eider Down" not once, not twice, but at least three times - Flaming, Julia Dream, Pillow of Winds . . .

I think, though I'm not sure, that an "eider down" is what we here stateside would refer to as a "down comforter," the actual Eider Down being the feathers of the Eider duck.
