I'm wondering if there's any info since this service was originally proposed? How did the vote go and was there enough interest to proceed forward? Will this be available for this year's run?

If it's going to happen, it would be great for a site to be set up with a demo that people could use to determine the best set-up for their computers, viewing, and sound. Some of us may have questions about how well our computers will drive a monitor with the video stream being used, audio options, etc.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on the current Moogis status

A bump means responding in a thread so that it comes back up to the top of the list and hopefully someone else will see it and respond with good info. It's typically done when a message has sunk way down, a few pages back, and either the original poster or someone interested in the subject (like bluefox in this case - thanks bluefox!) wants to see the thread receive some attention and maybe an answer. Kinda like what I'm doing now...

I'm giving this another bump just to see if anyone has any news as we close in on the Beacon dates.

I'm really hoping this happens as it increasingly looks like I won't be able to make any dates live for this year's run.

Come on Moogis!!!!

Were they thinking of Moogis for 2007, or were they planning 2008 to be the first year? I can't remember.

I think the plan was for this to be the first year and for the Beacon run to be the "pilot" or the test run. However, I'm not sure seeing as we haven't heard anything about it for quite some time.

Since posting my original question, I stumbled across something elsewhere on the web indicating this has been brewing with Butch for a few years now, so who knows how much of the infrastructure is really in place to make it a reality. Sure would be nice to have some idea though. Even just some results from the poll taken - if those were positive enough or not to warrant moving forward - would be nice to hear.

My guess is, and I KNOW I'm going to get "flamed" for being negative, is that is not going to happen. Butch Trucks is without a doubt, a great drummer, but lot of his business ventures haven't gone over so well (anybody remember his idea for a FROGWINGS Record Label, wonder what happen to that?). To put together MOOGIS would require a great deal of technical expertise, in addition, to having a great deal of capital to bring it to a point where it would be a viable business idea. The fact that MOOGIS wants to "sell" $100 download rights to entire Beacon series of concerts without providing ANY PROOF that at this point of time that MOOGIS has the ability to do so, points out there may be some problems (technical, capitalization, intellectual property issues) that might PREVENT MOOGIS from actually getting "off the ground".

Now for those of you who want to flame me for being "negative" I have one question for you. What if the person who came up with the MOOGIS concept was a "Joe Nobody", that none of you have ever heard of, instead of "Butch Trucks, drummer of the Allman Brothers Band", would you be as quick to jump on the "MOOGIS Bandwagon" and "ante up" $100 for download rights for the Beacon shows, even though, at this point of time, nobody knows how well or even whether or not the MOOGIS system will actually work?

Most businesses need to prove that they can do what they say they can do before asking people for money. And here's another thing that kind of "annoys me" about MOOGIS especially from a business point of view. If MOOGIS want me to invest $100, then offer me STOCK, instead of the "IFFY" Beacon downloads and Subcription to MOOGIS, all of which may never happen. That way if MOOGIS does work (both technically and from a business standpoint) then I can make some money on my investment in MOOGIS, instead of all it going to just the owner(s) of MOOGIS.

Something to think about, ain't it?

Even if we only get MOOGIS during the Beacon run, it's a bargain...all of the shows for $100!!! That's the cost of one ticket for one show....not to mention the outrageous hotel rates that are being charged this year...and I dont have to pay for airfare or a taxi...another positive is that I dont have to get dressed...I can sit here and watch it in my jammys!!!

Still have my fingers crosssed that all of the technicalities are being worked out....

I agree it would be a bargain.
However I'm starting to think it's a big tease. The waters have been still for far too long. I think if a positive decision has reached it would have been announced by now, giving as much time as possible to promo the launching the webcast.
I'M HOPING I'M WRONG
Butch , Lana are you listening? PROVE ME WRONG PLEASE

Now all references to Moogis on the ABB home page are gone. I'm not getting a good feeling here.

Just noticed that myself. If the all the Moogis threads start disappearing , then maybe it was just figment of our imagination. Hate being negative but the smoke signals are not good.

this doesnt surprise me. for about a year we kept hearing "Moogis is coming" "all hail moogis" "moogis moogis moogis!"

and then we got nothing for two years.

now, about three months ago, they bring it back out, get everyone excited again, and then abruptly stop communicating about it, again.

kinda hard to support an idea that keeps fleeting in and out of the public consciousness, imho. i would assume the momentum wasnt enough to keep the idea rolling.

whatever, at the end of the day apparently no one feels they owe the fans an explanation of the decision they have reached that was supposedly to be based on encouragement we had been given to voice our opinion.

it's like....hurry up.....and wait!
