good! i've seen BS with Ozzy four times so far, pretty much the same stuff each time.

Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are two my favorite metal albums, EVER!

Linnie,

I so agree with you. Heaven and Hell is my favorite. The sound created on that album has never been repeated.

Favorite tune from that album "lonely is the word", Tony just goes off while the bass and drums just beat you in the head. Love it. Phil

I can't wait for them to come to the U.K. I have seen Sabbath 16 times in the last 30 years, and as much as I wanted the reunion with Ozzy to happen, it went rather stale the last 4-5 years. Now this take on the band doesn't do any further damage to the name Black Sabbath. They have taken a huge gamble going out under the moniker of Heaven and Hell but it seems to have paid off as the interest in the music press and from the fans has been amazing and nothing but praise has been heaped upon the guys.
THEY TELL YOU BLACK IS REALLY WHITE, THE MOON IS JUST THE SUN AT NIGHT, AND WHEN YOU WALK IN GOLDEN HALLS YOU GET TO KEEP THE GOLD THAT FALLS, IT'S HEAVEN AND HELL.

I enjoyed Sabbath w/Dio quite a bit, and I'll be in NYC on the 30th . . . but going to see them instead of the Bros at the Beacon for my very first time . . . that ain't gonna happen.

I'm a Sabbath junkie from way back........hell, I'd logged 5 shows by the time I was 21 (1976). I saw them when they were all kids, I saw them in front of 250,000. I am undecided here. I just don't know if Ronnie James Dio can get over on me. I've never been a big fan. To me, Sabbath is the original lineup. NO OFFENSE to anyone. I used to have Heaven and Hell on vinyl. It's a good record, but to me it does not stand up to their first five, from "Black Sabbath" to "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath".

This show sounds interesting, but Black Sabbath with keyboards?
I think Dio is a good singer, great range and clarity for a metal singer. This is bringing back teenage memories. Anyone remember the Black and Blue tour? Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult.

Sabbath had a keyboard player on the Black and Blue tour - Geoff Nichols. He sits off in the corner almost out of sight and has been with Sabbath for over two decades - well, I don't know if he was with the Ozzy reunion line-up, but he was with them in 1987(?) when I saw them for "Seventh Star" and I think for Dehumanizer also. He is definitely on "Live Evil," but he does not play on every song, all the time, just some effects and textures when required - like the Gregorian chant voices etc.

I will leap to see the Sabs. If the Radio City tickets are very expensive, though, I will wait for their North American tour to return to the U.S.

My sincere hope is that they really go heavy on the Dio material, not the Ozzy stuff. I love the Ozzy songs, don't get me wrong, but I would rather hear DIo sing Dio. I guess they will feel obliged to play some of that stuff though.

Hi Lin

From what I read on thier site, the NYC show is H+H only!! No 'Deth, no Down

That being said.. there is No WAY I would blow off the ABB show that night for this.

besides, it also mentioned on thier site that there will be another US leg starting in August

I broke down today and bought a ticket for this show. I never got to catch Dio with Sabbath in the 80s, although I did see Dio with his solo band from first row, center in 1984 at Nassau Colliseum. So Droog, if our schedules match up maybe we can meet and I will treat you to your choice of Carnagie Deli or some NY Pizza. The Carnagie is actually about halfway between the Beacon and Radio City Music Hall. Let me know if your'e interested and we'll try to make plans to meet.

Pete

Thanks for that info Jim, I figured the keyboards was for texture and effects, or gravy on the meat so to speak.

They are doing no Ozzy stuff.

Just stuff from thier 2 discs, and there is going to be 4 new tracks on an upcoming compilation.

The site also says tix for Radio City go up tomorrow to the general public, 54-74 bucks. It is also being called Heaven and Hell, not Black Sabbath as this show will be all Dio/Sabbath era related material. The reason for this is Sabbath is reunited with Ozzy and went into the Hall of Fame with that line-up, therefore they feel this is not Black Sabbath. Either way should be quite a show, but I already committed to the ABB that night. Not sure at this point if I want to switch.

There was a time I would switch without hesitation.

Not so much now

And Ozzy and Sharon just being assclowns with all this. Eff them.
I would MUCH rather see Sab with Dio anyway...
