Looks like Phil is on his way to a speedy recovery. While this is a one nighter, it is great to see him returning to the stage. It's what he does.

Phil Lesh Will Return to the Stage for Darfur Benefit

Last February 5, at Slimís in San Francisco, Phil Lesh participated in the Rock To Relief benefit show initiated by the students of the Branson School. Proceeds from that evening were directed to victims of Hurricane Katrina and the Pakistani earthquake. On Friday February 9 Lesh will once again appear with Rich Price & the Foundation at Slim's, for Rock to Relief II: A Benefit for Darfur/Doctors Without Borders. This is the first announced gig for the bassist since his surgery in early December for prostate cancer.

From his earlier statment, I think he said the only shows he will be doing is stuff like this I think.

No tours, just 'one offs", benefits, etc..

Glad to hear he is doing OK!

I was at the Las Vegas midnight show he did with Trey last October 2006.
Holy Cow that was a mind blower.

Been to a lot of shows but that one was something else.
I have a AUD copy of the show and I am just starting to go back
and figure out what happened that night. I remember walking out of the areana with
that feeling I have only had a couple of times, knowing I had just witnessed something incredible.

God bless you Phil!

You must have been wearing ear plugs or maybe you were passed out. I attended five of the eight NY shows including the blizzard show which took me and my buds three hours to get from Long Island to the City and six hours to get home. Every one of these shows were outstanding. Some better than the others as always but all at least very good. If he announced a tour tomorrow I would be going for sure. Rest up Phil, many of us can't wait for you to return to the road and bring us more beautiful music.

Pete

Phil Lesh is certainly one of my favorite musicians. One of the first bass players in rock to play bass more like lead instrument than a rhythm instrument. Almost as important to the Grateful Dead's sound as Jerry Garcia. Definitely an innovative, adventurous and inspiring musican. Get better soon Uncle Phil. I can't wait to see you live again soon .
