I guess this has already been done, but here goes anyway... If they hold true to the form of the last couple years, the Brothers will probably add a cool new cover or three at Beacon time... here's a place to throw out a few requests!

Me? I'd like to hear them tackle RAINY NIGHT IN GEORGIA (just heard the BUddy Guy cover, and it sounds like Gregg and Warren could really have a field day with that one).

Also think it'd be cool to hear them do a gfood timey blues like Hound Dog Taylor's GIVE ME BACK MY WIG" ...

What do y'all wanna hear?

Not a cover, but I'm kinda' wondering what happened to Egypt in the setlist.

For a cover, Little Wing.

I like the idea of sticking with the Derek and the Dominoes stuff, Derek probably has it nailed by now, and it honors Duane as well.

"Got To Get Better In A Little While" gets my vote. Little Wing too!

I would love to hear new stuff. Not sure it will happen as they spend little time together collaborating, and I bet rehearsals before the Beacon will be short. Does not appear to be alot of time, but these guys can make it happen, they do seem to come togehter quickly and know each others moves pretty well. As for covers, I really want ot hear Whiter Shade Of Pale and with Warren doing it with The Mule, this is certainly possible. Want to hear Gregg take the vocals, but if Warren does its still fine with me.
What else could they do, hit Seven Turns for a couple of seldom played cuts, back to the 70's for Just Ain't Easy(Enlightened Rogues) and Jelly Jelly (Brothers and Sisters).

was thinking about this yesterday due to Mick Taylor's birthday but Time Waits for No One has potential for some beautiful guitar work from the guys.

Little Wing is a great choice, and the Mule slayed it with David Hidalgo guesting from Los Lobos on 12/29 at the Beacon.

From the R&B school, I'd dig a little 'I'LL TAKE YOU THERE" with Susan guesting on vocals.

Dear Mr. Fantasy play us a tune
Something to make us all happy
Do anything, take us out of this gloom,
Sing a song, play guitar, make it snappy

Hmm so many songs that over time I'd like to see them play, but one that just came to mind is While My Guitar Gently Weeps...I think it'd be interesting.

I think that if they will do a new cover, it'd be from a big artist, namely The Band, Derek and the Dominos, or Bob Dylan. A few hopefuls from each:

The Band:
Stage Fright (Warren Vocals)
Opheila (Gregg Vocals, w/ Horns)
I Shall Be Released (Gregg and Warren Split Vocals, both Derek and Warren would rip this)

Derek and the Dominos:
Little Wing (only major Duane session tune not covered, as many have already stated)
Got To Get Better In A Little While (Oteil Vocals, Derek and Warren would kill this)
Have You Ever Loved A Woman (easy blues, Gregg vocals)
Tell The Truth (Warren Vocals)

Bob Dylan:
All Along The Watchtower (hopefully more Hendrix style, but have been longing for a cover of this)
Tangled Up In Blue (Gregg vocals, do a slow bluesy version, I think it would work nicely)
Silvio (Bob Weir does such an awesome job of covering this) - maybe Silvio > Tequilia a la Weir?

Also, I would love to see Mule do Like A Rolling Stone - I could definitely see Warren belting out these vocals

Since when is Little Wing a song for a duet? It's about a man's love for a woman, not 2 men's love for a woman. I much better choice could and should have been made, in my less than humble opinion.

In fact any song that Mule does will get a big thumbs down by me if they go to the ABB. Bad enough Soulshine and Rocking Horse are heard a million times.

I did enjoy Gregg's rendition of Just Like a Woman. That would be nice for the ABB.

I would also love to hear Loan Me a Dime. I have a copy of Warren doing that with the Rich Hippies and it is awesome but from abotu 1985. I would love to hear and ABB treatment of the song.

There are so many songs the ABB could do that it seems so much more efficient to just say what I don't want to hear again like Woman Across the River. God, I must have gotten that at every summer shed show. And I only got to hear Schoolgirl once and no version of Hoochie Coochie. Can't songs just be rotated better?

Anyway, please no Mule songs for the ABB. Thank you.

Hidalgo sang the first verse, then Warren sang the rest and the reprises. Your point is well taken, woulda been truer to the spirit of the lyric if one of them had handled all the vocals. But I took it more as an instrumental workout that night. And I stand by what I said: on that score, they freakin' SLAYED IT!

Posted in another thread, but I would love to see Gregg do All My Friends, Midnight Rider, Queen of Hearts with the old Laid Back crew, i.e. CRS, Chuck. I believe I will see this in my lifetime in my little world, but something this sweet should be shared by a wider audience.

Picky, picky...

Yeah I could do without Woman Across the River or Maydell again fdor a while, but to be honest, I'll just be happy to hear the boys play. Hell, they could make Chopsticks rock.

And BTW, Angela, I feel like Beacon shows are partly special for the looseness, the experimentation. If they wanna try a cover or 2 that the Mule have also done, well, they'll bring something new to it -- Derek will see to that! I think it's all good, myself. But anyway, the idea was to think of a cover or three that you'd be psyched to hear from the ABB, not complain about which old ABB originals you're tired of -- there's lots of other places for that game.
