Not after an alcoholic I hope.

Just kidding. Sanderson was a real good player. Has had some ups and downs but always seems to rise again.

Sanderson was a hell of a player.

Derek's middle name is Nolan.

Kind of a "balance the karma" thing.

still.....

You have to be brave to charge Nolan. Not only is he a tough bastard but he will be throwing that smoke at you another time.

Ron, I'm shocked you named one of your kids after a baseball player...On the other hand Ryan would have probably been another Scott Stevens on ice., doubt if he missed many outings with a an hangnail.

Nolan Ryan still scares me. As hard as they come. What an arm to go along with the rest of the package.

Had my wife allowed a second middle name, he would have been Derek Nolan Clarke Laxton.

Guess you can see why I wore 16 when I played.

Two of the best centers.

Awesome penalty killers.

Exceptional faceoff abilities.

Clarke was another real good player. Could have been an awesome GM also. He created at least 2-3 teams capable of winning the Cup. But he never got a goalie. I think deep down he resents Bernie Parent and has gone on the belief that Bernie didn't win them their Cups. He was wrong.

What other excuse could he have for never getting a quality goalie in all those years? Not money. They threw that at everyone else.

No respect for Goaltending = No Stanley Cups

I'd love to see more players today with the passion that Clarke and Sanderson brought to the rink.

And they give the Canucks a power play in OT.

You get your shoot out now.

Boston took the Sabres in a shoot out and then Buffalo got their revenge the other night. Buffalo needs to take the Canucks down tonight.

Posted in another thread.

C-Mule can't be too upset about the shoot out, Sabres win.

I also watched the Syracuse Crunch play Albany tonight.

Hockey Heaven in CNY.

Both boys have games tomorrow, only problem is Derek plays in one rink, Ken plays in the other, 30 minutes apart.

I may see the last 20 minutes of Ken's game after Derek's game ends.

My parents can watch boy play by going back and forth between games.

Twin sheet arenas are cool.

The Sens played the Canucks well the other night. Couldn't solve the goaltending until too late.

Glad Buffalo (or anyone) slowed Vancouver down a bit.

Even better, I got to see the whole game before we left for the rink.

We won 7-4, Derek had two goals (including the game winner) and two assists.

He should have had a hat trick, put two quality shots off the crossbar.

Tomorrow we have a real test.

We play one of the top three teams in the league at their rink.

Mikey, come on out to Shove at 6:45.

We'll be there.

We passed our test today, and it wasn't easy.

We had two refs that were maybe two years older than our players.

We saw these same guys last year in our league tourney, and they were horrible.

They haven't improved one bit.

We scored first.

They tied it.

We scored again.

Middle of the second period, there is a scrum in the corner.

One of their kids falls down, ref calls Derek for a check from behind.

That is a two minute minor, and a ten minute misconduct.

He goes to the penalty box and slams the door.

Ref says he gets an additional two minutes unsportsmanlike conduct for slamming the door.

I point out that they have no penalty box attendant to close the door, as they are required to provide.

Ref just gives me the deer in the headlights look and skates away.

We kill off 3:30 of the four minutes, and they score to tie it.

We get two more minors, questionable at best, and I now have my three leading scorers all sitting in the box.

Luckily we kill both minors.

Two minutes after Derek gets back on the ice, we score to go up 3-2.

Icing on the cake, Derek scores an empty net goal to seal the win.

4-2 on their ice, with some heavy home cooking by the officials.

Big win for us.

All Star Game

East or west?

I am going with the East. Hopefully the over/under can stay below 20.

East has the scorers.

And the goaltender.

West defense men may be better as a group, but it's the All star game.

I just hope it's televised on a channel we get.

Yes Ryan Miller is an awesome goaltender.

Not sure about the West defence. the East does have Bryan Campbell.

Move to canada Ron. It's on every channel.

I've been saying this to Flyers fans for years, it just doesn't seem to register.

I don't know about a curse though, Ron Hextall was a damn good goalie for awhile for them.

He also had that 'passion' you're talking about...perhaps a bit too much of it.

If Ilkka Sinisalo didn't miss TWO wide open nets in game 7 in Edmonton in '87, the Flyers would have won their third Stanley Cup. Regardless, Hextall still won the Conn Smythe trophy.

Without an empty net goal, I had the All Star game nailed at 20 goals. Just silly.

It would be like the MLB All Star game using a pitching machine throwing straight down the middle for every pitch.

If there is no defence and no hitting then play 3 on 3 hockey.
