Simon is more proof that there are too many bad steriod juiced players in the game these days. Concussion my ass. If he was concussed he'd be laying on the ice. He went over the line and he will pay the price. About time the NHL did something. Throw him out for the year.

Just like Darcy Tucker and Gary Roberts in that playoff series with the Islanders a couple years back. Those two dirty cheap shots went unpenalized. What Simon did was bad, but I see worse infractions all the time. Jannsens from the Devils should have gotten almost as big a suspension for that dirty, late, blindsiding hit he put on Kaberle last week. These players are big and fast and can do just as much damage without a stick. When Roberts crunched Jonnson's head into the boards at full speed from behind in that Leafs - Islanders series I thought Jonnson was freakin dead. The suspension to Simon is a good thing, and that is coming from a huge Islander fan, but they need to start cracking down on some of the other garbage that goes unchecked.

Funny you should mention three people that spent time with the Rangers as examples of cheap shot artists. Maybe you just don't like the Rangers

Not like the Ranger$???

Imagine that.

Hey Ron, whats up?

I had to chime in here.

I'll be the first to tell ya thet Holleweg's only talent is to be a pain in the ass. I don't think he a cheap shot guy, but without question if the puck is near you he's gonna finish his check and hit you as hard as he can.

Could they have called a penalty on his hit , maybe . I think the hit was tough because Simon was about 2 feet from the glass,so the momentum slammed his face into the glass. If he was closer to the boards, his body would have hit the boards all at the same time, and there would have been not as much of his face slamming into the glass.

On a night when the refs are calling a tight game, it might have been a panalty, if it was Sidney Crosby, taking the hit, there would have been a penalty and Hooleweg would have been arrested on the spot.

Based on Simons previous suspension record, I would have given him a years suspension.

It was a rough hit, but a two handed chop to the body, inches higher and he could have crushed his face, lower and he might have killed him if he hit him in the neck.

There is no place for this kind of stuff in hockey, fight all ya want but you don't wish this to happen to anyone.

I hope the Islander miss the playoffs by 2 points and the Rangers make it by 2, that would be sweet justice.

Personally , I hope the Rangers don't make the playoffs, they don't have a chance to get out of the first round. It saves me playoff ticket money.

That was a wild last minute in the Leafs game. Glad they pulled it out in the end.

Buffalo scores with 6 seconds left to tie the Penguins. Only to have Crosby work his shoot out magic again.

I can't believe the Crapitals traded Danius Zubrus because he wanted a five year deal and they wanted three.
They spend all this time to develop Danius into a top line center and then trade him away.

Cheap Bastids deserve to be a minor league team.

And the losing streak continues.

Thankfully no shootouts in playoffs. Pens would walk to Stanley Cup if that was the case.
Good piint the other day in Globe that Sens look to play pens in first round. Man will that be a good one. Sadly loser gets booted. I think the pens have the stuff to challenge but playing playoff hockey every second night might wear the young lads down.

Lets hear peoples early Stanley Cup Favourites? I'm going with San Jose in the West and Sens in East.

I can't make picks without seeing the matchups (and even then I can't make picks) but I will say I expect whomever comes out of the West, to KICK whoever comes out of the East's ASS.

I'm thinking whoever makes it out of the west will be so beat up the East will walk all over them.

I know they got shut out last night.

But as long as Marty is in net, the Devils have a chance.

Can't agree more. Mike Babcock said that in pc words this week and some very good teams who could kick ass on the East are going home.

Back to back wins over the Preds to move into first, hope the Wings aren't going for the (kiss of death curse for them ...) President's Cup. One more game at the end of March for a possible sweep of this years games vs. Preds.

I was reading the newspaper today and saw the NHL has changed the draft order to Stanley Cup winner last pick ,runnerup second last , conference finalists 27 and 26th. and so on to first pick for the bottom dweller.. Sort of reacting to the reality of the fact that where you finish in the standings doesn't really tell how good the team is.Wings had lobbied for this since losing the Cup to (Ron will love this) the Devils and seeing them draft ahead because of the regular season standings.

Sabres stay ahead of those pesky Devils, Sens and Penguins.

It's not Marty I'm worried about. Gionta, Madden and Elias all have groin issues and there's not a great amount of firepower WITH them. I'd give the Devs or Sabres a chance of winning the Cup if they were healthier, but right now things are looking a little grim for both teams. Right now maybe Ottawa has the best chance to come out of the east.

Well it was on TSN for the Leaf Nation, whatever that is...Toronto & Mississauga maybe. Wade Belak grabbed Janssen and pounded on him for 1 1/2 minutes. Give Janssen credit for big cojones,he waved off the linesman that was going to break it up, to keep getting swung around and clobbered by Belak.

Great to hear the fans chanting Belak's name

Oh, and before anyone who didn't see the fight gets the wrong idea, this wasn't a Todd Bertuzzi style mugging by the Leafs enforcer...

Belak skated towards Janssen, called out his name, dropped his stick and gloves and the 2 of them squared off.

The Toronto media made this sound one sided. Not how I see it.

Belak is winded half way through.

Buffalo beats Washington tonight. 101 points and counting. Awesome season. Even with the injuries they stayed on top.

Sure didn't look like a "beat down" to me.

How many times did Belak hit Jannsen's helmet?

That hurt his hand more than Cam's head.

Loved some of the idiot comments posted.

Come on Jack you know better the Leafs Nation exists from coast to coast. I went to a junior game just the the other night here in Victoria and leafs shirts, hats jerseys outnumbered canucks, habs and yes even "Hockey Towns/empty seats???" own Dead Things at least three to one.

Looking forward to watching the leafs in the first round and the wings annual bowout in the first round. Calgary vs Detroit or Colorado vs Detroit, which ones going to hurt more? Leafs!!!
