Hey Holt, I've got a load of other Jack cds (because I'm a Jack freak!)...

1) Step Out is very cool. Pretty groovy version of I'm Not Crying on it. Nothing like the ABB version, but cool nonetheless.

2) JP & WH is a superb CD. Just perfect to put on and chill out after a tough day at work with a cold beer. Get it next!

3) AJ McMahon, "Mek man" - this is also great, really worth a looksee. Again, another side to Jack's playing. This is such a mellow CD, there are 2 or 3 songs that are a bit cheesy, but the rest makes up for it big time.

other CDs that Jack guests on that are worth getting:

1) Johnny Neel, Comin Atcha - this ROCKS. It also has Maydell on it, a song they originally wrote for Seven Turns but is apparently going to be on the forthcoming ABB album, it'll be interesting to see how different the ABB version is to this one!

2) Smoky Greenwell, Blowout - instrumental Harmonica-led album. Also has Johnny Neel on it. Jack's solo on the last song, "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" is worth 10 times the price of this CD just on its own. Fantastic.

3) Jimmy Buffett, "beach house on the moon". Standard Buffett, but Jack does some beautiful playing on this.

4) Jimmy Hall, "rendezvous with the blues" - pretty much "searching for simplicity" without Gregg, this CD is also great.

there are plenty more, but those are my faves!

That instrumental album is very cool. My vote for best track goes to Ephesians 12:6 (or whatever the exact number is). Sounds odd coming from me, but hey, I like what I like. This is a good album to sit back and groove to- there are points when it'll reach out and grab you, but it flows along really well. I wish Jack would tour, I really do. Peace. --Marley

Peachhead,

I'm a HUGE jack fan too, would you like to trade on that show?

Paul.

The Jack & William Howse disc is outstanding. Pure, raw and real. Harp the way it is meant to be played. If you like acoustic blues, it is right up your alley.

Just bought a new CD titled "Hot Biscuit Jam" by John Balch w/Jack Pearson from November 2004. Balch plays clawhammer style banjo. Jack plays mandolin, acoustic guitar & National steel body guitar. Elizabeth Pearson plays bass. Produced by Jack Pearson & John Balch. Truly a differrent side of Jack's playing. Beautiful mountain music.

And don't you just love the picture of Jack on the inside cover?

He definitely looks like he's ready to do some mando pickin' on the front porch!

Dirk,
When can we expect the JPB release?

Soon, I hope.

Well I don't know for sure... After a year and a half of trying Jack's put the live album idea on hold for the time being. We're going to keep multitracking the live shows in the hopes of getting a live recording out there sometime in the future, but for now the band has recorded a bunch of tracks "live" at his studio that he's currently in the process of overdubbing and mixing.

If it all goes according to schedule though, something *may* be out before the summer. Personally I've got my fingers crossed, as what I've heard of the rough mixes sounds absolutely fantastic. I can't speak for Jack's timetable of course since I'm not directly involved in the mixdowns or anything, but my gut feeling is that we're pretty close to seeing it! It will be well worth the wait, I'm sure.

Dirk
