Bill Simmons highly reccommends this show, I am going to start watching soon, glad to see other people besides Mr. Simmons reccommend this.

I really thought it was cool that it had karma as a theme for a comedy show. I thought it would just be stupid at first, till I watched it. It's really funny and some times down right touching. Just think, a guy trying to right his wrongs from his past and get his karma together. Sounds very Buddhist to me.

And Jaime Pressly just knocks me out. What a babe!

I just watched tonight's episode, too, Stick--I was cracking up all over the place! I liked how all those things were coming together at the "ran some" drop outside the old train station and how My Name Is Randy and My Name Is Joy showed more how those things happened.

Crowe, Earl might be the funniest show on television, though once 24 starts back up Sunday, that's "the best show on television."

I agree- Earl's half hour seems to fly by quicker than any other half hour of the day. It's got a lot of what I can(should) relate to- doing stupid things earlier in one's life and trying to make up for it. And oh yeah, Jaime Pressley is hard to resist...

I enjoy watching "My Name is Earl". I am worried that the show is about to "jump the shark". Uusally, television shows and rock bands peak after about three years. I think "Earl" is already in its second or third season. No matter! Funny stuff! The cast is great, although I'd like more Catalina! Although the show is set in California, whoever came up with the idea must have spent some time researching the trailer parks of the south! Through the years, I have met many an "Earl"!

I thought it was set in Georgia. Camden County Georgia to be correct.

They're being fairly generic, but I believe (could be wrong) that Camden County was identified as being in Californy in one of the episodes. That, and it just doesn't look like Georgia!

I got the first season on DVD for Christmas. I enjoy it.

Randy (walking on college campus) " Hey Earl, do you think that's the building where they make the monkeys smoke cigerettes?"

Trivia for
"My Name Is Earl" (2005)
(from IMDB website)

The items in Earl's list shown during the opening sequence read as follows:
56: Stole Liquor from Liquor store
57: Told Joy Dan D(writing illegible) messed himself on the (rest cut out of frame)
58: Fixed a high school football game
59: Everything I did to Dad
60: Pulled fire alarm
61: Stole Mom's car (but I gave it back)
62: Faked death to break up with a girl
63: Wasted electricity
64: Spray Painted The bridge
65: Cost Dad the election
66: Let mice out at school play
67: Stole beer from a golfer
68: Blew up mailboxes
69: Cheated on School tests a lot

Every time Earl's picture (or otherwise graven image) is taken, his eyes are closed. This is considered to be a nod to the movie Forrest Gump in which every photograph of Forrest shows him with his eyes closed.

The close-up of Earl's driver license shows he lives in Pimmit Hills Trailer Park, Space C-13, Camden County. His date of birth is 4/25/1970 (Jason Lee's birthday), his height is 6'1", his weight is 190, his eyes (closed in the picture, of course) and hair are brown, and he is an organ donor. It's a class 1 license, #023052378, expiring on 4/25/2009, issued on 4/25/1970?

Garcia first pitched the show to Fox, which passed on it. About eighteen months later, people at NBC got interested after reading the pilot script that Garcia had sent to several networks.

Although Lee and Suplee had worked together before, Garcia didn't discover Suplee because of that. Garcia discovered him while watching the DVD version of Without a Paddle, looking at the film because another actor in it had been recommended to him. What convinced Garcia to bring Suplee in for an audition were comments about him he heard on the DVD's commentary track. One of the actors in the commentary told the story of a dispute between the film's director and Suplee. The scene the actor described was one where Suplee's character was supposed to be pointing a gun at some people Suplee and others had captured. The commentary noted that Suplee had insisted that he shouldn't point his gun at them after all, since in Suplee's mind, it had taken so long to capture the people that it had given the character time to rethink his motives. Suplee got his way in the scene, over the director's objections. The fact that Suplee would think so much about such a small detail was enough to get Suplee an audition. Garcia and the show's writers have subsequently used Suplee's attention to detail to the show's advantage, in various "pestered by a bee" background activities that Suplee's character does in various scenes. The first such scene was an improvisation in the pilot, where Suplee is looking up at the ceiling with his mouth open.

In a never aired episode from the first season, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes reprised their drug dealer Jay and Silent Bob roles. The episode dealt with Earl having to cross Jay and Bob off his list because they kept a marijuana tab for him years ago and he never paid it off. This was never aired due to the drug themes

Haven't been able to catch this show as much as I'd like but the episodes I have seen were a hoot - had me laughing out loud. Kind of reminds me of Coen Bros work (Raising Arizona comes to mind).

Jaime Pressley killed me on last night's show when she's driving down the road smoking a cigarette, singing a Faith Hill song off key when all of a sudden she gets the smokers' cough going and throws the cigarette into the bushes that Earl just happens to be hiding in.

Randy is my hero. I've lived in southwest Ga all my life. I know a lot of people make jokes about us but I know people like Earl and Randy personally. Actually, some I know are a lot worse and have no clue or care what "Karma" is. I have learned recently how we know that the tooth brush was invented in Ga. If it had been invented in any other state it would have been called a "Teeth" brush. :-)

I was rollin' on the floor on that too.......

Love the way they twisted back & forth.....

My favorite is when Randy & Earl had the laptop to return.....Randy...."Earl, Earl the fishes are back" every time he'd bump the pc.... [screensaver]

And when Joy talks down to Catilina........" I don't speak maid "

I think the show is pretty original and has a great premise.
The acting is top notch and I dig the crude comedy material.
The music they play on it is killer too.

On a side note, the movie that got me hooked on Jason Lee
was "Mallrats." Don't know how many people out there have seen it,
but I think it's Kevin Smith's best flick.
