Hello Everybody..new here to HTW, but have been checking out the site for a bit. I thought it was time to register, and jump in. You are some very nice folks it seems.
Long time Duane Allman/Brothers fan. A veteran of the Fillmore east shows, and tri-state area shows, I was blessed enough to have seen Duane perform and have my life changed musically. A fire destroyed many fine photograghs I had Duane of the band...damn shame...
I am trying to add a photogragh to this Posting..Question: When I click the palet symbol to add picture, and I get the( IMG) in quotes...how do I add the picture of my choice? I would like to share some I think you all will like.
You will see me around a bit now, as I am newly retired at 55..but not ready to sit and rust.
I'm too old to grow up now, and still alot I want to do..
That's it for now. I am thanking you in advance because I know next time I check there will be plenty of replys helping me load a picture.

Welcome!! It's nice to have another oldtimer (although I'm only 53)... this is indeed a very friendly place.

Re images: from the FAQ section:

how do I post an image? Do I upload it to the site and then reference it with that img button?

The "img" button is just a quick way to generate the HTML for including an image in a page. This works only if your picture is already on the web somewhere and you have the URL for it. If you picture is on your computer, go the Media Gallery, click the "Submit Media" link, and fill out the form.

Welcome Apothis. The picture posting will come easily. What's more important is that you are here among friends with a common bond. Enjoy! Bob

Hey, thanks guys..I will try the picture loading process, knew I could count on you all.
Here's a good Duane story for you. I use to work not far from the Fillmore, so after work I would get there hrs before their concerts (my apt was an 1hr train ride away..no sense). I spent 3/4ths of my pay on concert tickets at the fillmore in those days, so the crew, and security knew me. One day late Sept, '70 my timing was perfect..I'm walking across 2nd ave at 9th street on my way torwards the Fillmore to get a bite and wait for my buddies and I see this van cutting from the east side of 2nd ave, which runs south to the west side of second ave..what you do when you have to get to the other side of the street..fast, and have that window of oppurtunity. Well, I have been crossing streets in NYC for years at this point, and knew I better hurry across as I was already in front of them and there was traffic behind me coming down 2nd..yes, I was Jay Walking..lol.
As the van is passing me and I am on safe ground I turn to look over my left shoulder and I see hair flying in the wind out the front passenger window, and as he pulls his hair back to get out of his face, his face is revealed OH S***, thats Duane Allman!!! I said!
"Hey, Sorry, Man"..He said that to me, and I was like in a daze..till this day, I could remember how my head swam. I can't even think about eating now!! I go cash my check, and go over to the FE. Don't even think of going near a Load IN when in Progress in those days..I knew better..there were a lot of theft in those days, and they were kicking Ass. I did manage to go around front, talk to a few of the guys i knew from getting familar over the years. "I got to get in for the Soundcheck, you know I never bother you (too much)!! Well, without going into much detail I will say I sweetnened the plea with some, um, um .
I could not go past the last row at the back of the orch, but that was fine by me!! I watched the soundcheck which lasted a good 45 mins or so..I thought I could maybe somehow get up to the stage and talk to them , but never got the chance. Said, i was going to meet Duane one day, and tell him I was the guy who you almost hit on 2nd ave that day. Maybe he would have remembered..maybe not. But by the sincererty of his "Hey, sorry man"..I going to belive he would
But I never got the Chance..

Photobucket.com is a relatively easy way to get your pics on the web (and then you use a link to get them posted to hittintheweb)

Welcome Apothis, you'll enjoy this place and you've started off well- A Duane story no less. An "oldtimer" like you, just turned 56, missed seeing Duane live, but stilll listen to him every day and lots of us refer to this place as the House That Duane Built. In reality,Lana and Rowland built it and do agreat job of keeping it going ,but Duane started it all...
Welcome & Enjoy!

Definitions of apophis on the Web:

In Egyptian mythology, Apep (also spelt Apepi, and Aapep, or Apophis in Greek) was an evil demon, the deification of darkness and chaos, and thus opponent of light and Ma'at (order/truth), who was believed in from the Middle Kingdom onwards. Apep formed part of the more complex cosmic system resulting from the identification of Ra as Atum, i.e. the creation of Atum-Ra, and the subsequent merging of the Ogdoad and Ennead systems. ...

In the science fiction television show Stargate SG-1, Apophis was a Goa'uld based on the Apophis of Egyptian mythology. Apophis first appeared in the pilot episode Children of the Gods and was the show's main antagonist and the principal enemy of SG-1 for a long time. Apophis had all the standard characteristics of the Goa'uld, including arrogance, cruelty, and megalomania. ...
