Hi Jack! Sandy and I are going to both the Tues. and Wed. shows. We're driving up on Sunday and coming home on Thursday. Our earlier plans changed when the Bros. added the second show. Are you going to both shows or just Tues? Also, we're going to see dTb at the Toronto Jazz Festival Sat. June 30. Are you planning to go to that show?

Hi Petri! Good to see you posting. Thanks for your good wishes re: Riders. I hope your Who and Tull shows work out for you.

Sleepy time time... Love that song. Jack Bruce Rocks!!

Hey everybody ... hope you are all keeping well

Sorry not to have been around much lately ... been real busy at work and been away from home just about every weekend since the Beacon ... this weekend I get to myself at home, however, as Jan is off visiting her Mum ... but I have got a "honey do" list to attend to

Kim ... thanks for the heads-up on the "Riders" gig ... I did notice it was on but it is a Sunday night which is not good for travelling to and from London ... AND they want $70 which is twice what Gov't Mule are asking ... AND it is in the Mean Fiddler which is not the best venue in town ... so I'm still not sure if I will go or not ... I would like to BUT .....

Petri ... thanks for the long email ... I have been meaning to bolt myself down and send one to you for over a month now ... hopefully this weekend I will get the chance ... none-the-less, you and (especially) Leena have been in my thoughts ... by the way, there is a small package on its way to you at the moment ... hope you enjoy it .. call it a late birthday present

Have a great weekend everybody

Hey Colin. I hear your concerns. I'd say that if you were/are a big fan of The Doors music and love Ray and Robby's playing it might be worth the hassle and cost to see the band. Those guys are like Greg, Butch, Jaimoe and Dickey. Still out their playing their asses off and sounding awesome!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. We're having beautiful, warm, spring weather. Good for the soul. Take care, all...

Hi, my dear S&B!
Only a few words:
This year at festival EXIT 07 in Novi Sad, only one great name (for me): Robert Plant! Festival will be from 11 to 15 July.
And second one: Dear sis Kim, have you seen the last victory? Yes, I'm talking about NOLE (No. 5 in the world now, only a few steps to...)
Love!
Zeka

Hi Zeka. No, I did not see that last tournament Nole won. They didn't show it here on tv. Good for Nole, though. It's amazing how fast he has climbed in the rankings. It's great to see new talent in the upper ranks. So all the guys are in Rome this week. I'd like to see someone other than Nadal win, maybe Rooggeeer...hmmm? Nole can come in second at this tournament.
Love,
Kim

Good evening my friends! (it's well past 10 pm here in Finland)

The world hockey game between mighty USA and tiny Finland ended a while ago and the result is that USA is out of the games and the Finnish Lions continue... We are at least among the four best teams! Yippee! Our next match is against Russia and the winner of that game goes to the final game. I hope that the Swedes won't win the gold medal this year... (Sorry Peter )

And the semifinals of Eurovision Song Contests are live on TV at the moment. I am not too big a fan of that happening (anymore) but I have to say with a certain pride that the lightning and the set-up at Hartwall Arena (the usual place for big concerts, f. ex. Eric Clapton) are very good looking, indeed. In fact, they are phenomenal!!! Finland RULES! The final concert will be held on Saturday.

And now a question to which all our European bros and sisters have to answer with their hands on their heart: Do you like to watch the Eurovision Song Contest
.
.
.
.
.
Are you some kind of masochist?... I am...

Good night, a very good night.

Hey to all my International Lounge friends

I've been away for a couple of days entertaining a Russian delegation ... nice to be back home ... especially as my tickets for Gov't Mule in London on Sat July 14 were waiting for me

And tomorrow at 9am tickets go on sale for Gregg and Friends in London the following Thursday July 19 ... whoo-hoo

Just waiting now to see if dTb will come back over here in October ... Derek said he hoped to do so when I met him at the Beacon

Petri ... thank you for the emails ... I am not ignoring you just desperatly trying to find time to send you the long reply you deserve

Glad you liked my little package ... love to you and especially to Leena ... I WILL be in touch very soon

Oh ... and by the way ... I HATE the Eurovision Song Contest ... I suppose if you were under the influence of mind altering substances you might find it perversely funny ... but I will wish good luck to the Finnish Lions for you

Dear bro Colin, I'm so sorry, but I have to use your nice words: "Oh ... and by the way ... I HATE the Eurovision Song Contest ... "
That is NOT MUSIC!
Have a nice day (and nice music), my dear S&B!

I'd say that there's no such thing as bad music. It's all between listener's ears. I can listen to both ABB and ABBA or Finnish tangos or some jazz or The Beatles (the greatest!!!) or Buzzcocks or Steely Dan or J. S. Bach. There's no such thing as BAD music. It's completely another thing if the Eurovision Song Contest is camp and grotesque event nowadays...

Oh BTW, the finals of The Eurovision Song Contest just started on the telly. I have to run now...

Peace!

Good late evening from Finland... whose hockey team has just lost gold medal to team Canada... OK, our first round was bad, too many penalties and we woke up to the reality only in the third round when it was too late...

Congratulations Canada!

Good night and see you all tomorrow.

Only want to say THANKS to you, bro Petri!
Yes, our song won and yesterday was a great party in Belgrade (about 70,000 of people) for our singer Marija, and she made a little concert, you know, the same song, but fist time in original, second time as dance version, after that unpluged version...
Only good thing for me is that the next Eurovision will be in Belgrade, i.e. a lot of people from whole Europe.
P.S.
Still HATE that kind of "music"!
Love!
Zeka

Hi Zeka!

I symphatize you, I'm not a fan of Euro trash music myself, but I watched the contest this year only because it was held here in Helsinki, Finland. If you watched it I hope you got a positive overview of our country... I mean the little "postcards" between the songs

And a warm hello to all!

It has been a busy day so far here at work. Nothing special to tell, just a typical Monday when one feels that there's not much going on in the upstairs departmet...

With these forgettable words I bid farewell...

Good afternoon my international friends!

At this point - it's only Wednesday - I will wish you all a happy weekend, hah hah...

I have an extra long weekend ahead because tomorrow is a national holiday (I can't translate the Finnish name in English, it's one of those clerical holidays) and the day after tomorrow is also free (at least for me and my working buddies) and I have also decided to take Monday next week as a holiday. The reason for having a mini-holiday is that me and my family are going out of town to visit my wife's parents and it's a long drive there... So why not enjoy the peaceful countryside for a few days...

So, I'll see you at some point next week. Until then,

HEIPPA!

Hello Petri,

Same here he-he .

Tomorrow national holiday (religious, can't translate it either...euh it's the day Christ went to Heaven).
Friday is a so-called "bridge day" (a bridge between the holiday and the weekend) and a
lot of goverment buildings and big companies close their doors.
Monday i always have the day off (i work 4 longer days at the office from tuesday 'till friday).

So the same long weekend for me too and boy oh boy do i need it. My work drives me nuts.

Time for some brewskies !!!

Let us assume for a moment that I am an up and coming musician ...

Just released my first album and a few people are beginning to take notice ...

My father is a famous musician ...

His band has a regular gig each March playing at the Royal Albert Hall for 2 or 3 weeks ...

I play as a guest musician with him sometimes giving me good exposure ...

I even play a couple of after show gigs during the March run at Ronnie Scotts - Central London ...

People tell me to go over to the USA as there are a growing number of fans there ...

Particularly in the NYC area ... a gig at BB King's in New York City is suggested ...

So my agent books me to play at Burger Kings in Skaneateles, New York State ...

Think that is funny? ... by booking him into the Astor in Kent NOT the Astoria in London ...

that is exactly what Devon's agent has done to him for his UK debut ...

Please bring Honeytribe to London ...

Hey Petri & Roger ... enjoy your long weekend / minibreak from work

Normal hours here I'm afraid

But only one more week until I go to Spain for a weeks vacation on the Costa Del Sol

A bit of walking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains ... a bit of swimming in the Mediterranian ... and a bit of swimming in my beer glass ... should be fun!!!

Hello all! Sounds like all are doing well.

Petri, have a great holiday and enjoy your visit with the in-laws! Oh yes, I must tell you I'm sorry we won the hockey tournament. Maybe you'll get us next year.

Roger, you enjoy your days off too. Enjoy those brewskies!

Colin, so happy you have two special shows to look forward to in July. I sure would like to see Gregg and Friends some day. He never comes over the border with that group. Enjoy!

Zeka, tennis in Germany this week. Roger won his first match, fighting back after dropping the second set. Did you hear that Roger has parted ways with Tony Roche?
If Nole is in this tournament I wish him well!

As for me, I'm looking forward to hearing The Doors in six days.

"Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm..."

All the best and lots of love to all...

Hey Kim ... simultaneous posting

Hope you are keeping well my Darling

Yes, I am really looking forward to Mule & Gregg ... shame they are both here within 5 days of one another ... a month gap would be better on my pocket ... both at the same time would be better on my ears

But I ain't complaining ... just waiting to see if Derek brings the dTb over in the Fall

Hi Colin!

Thanks for your sweet post. Yeah, I'm hanging in, continuing to bat away at the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune!

Hope you get Derek in the fall. I'm seeing him June 30 and that's a treat because I've not seen him since 2001 in Toronto.

Sweet dreams...

Oh man, I am so bummed!!! Just want to vent a bit...hope no one minds.

Today, the Doors just canceled the Tues. Toronto show!! The explanation..."scheduling difficulties". What a load of you know what. The gig has been booked for weeks and they had three days to get here from VA. Cancel five friggin days before the show. Oh man...I'm so disappointed in them. They tend to do this to their fans, cancel shows on them. They've done this {cancel shows} off and on for a few years now. So far, this is the second show they've canceled on this tour and they aren't doing that many shows! Over time you come to the conclusion these guys take their fans for granted. What a disappointment.

Thanks for listening guys...hope all are well...and have a good weekend.

Hello Kim,

No wonder you are bummed. And why should we mind that you are venting your dissapointment here? We all have been down that road before.

Every now and then a concert or tour you're psyched about get's cancelled.
Well that's dissappointing in itself but musicians are human beings and sometimes bad health or family issues / tragedies back home occur. Sometimes things get rescheduled and eventually work out.

But when the reason is right and the communication towards the fans is properly done
it's at least something everyone understands. But sometimes bands cancel shows NOT for the right reasons or screw up communication and that looks like the case here.
WTF are "scheduling difficulties"? That surely sounds and tastes like a rather cheap excuse to me.

I hope this doesn't spoil your weekend and you are able to use the money from the ticket refund to get hold of some other tickets from a band that has some more respect for their fanbase.

Eat A Peach !!!

And Happy Weekend to all the Regulars !!!!!!
