Hi Kim ... Jan likes the commercial Mule CD's but complains that Warren doesn't do enough acoustic / quiet numbers in the Mule live shows ... so, yes she likes Mule but she is not fussed about seeing them live

Gregg & Friends is much more up her street ... we just got back home from the gig in London and it was an excellent performance, despite Gregg having problems with his throat. To be honest, there were only a couple of occasions when it was evident that he was having difficulties, the main one being when he found he couldn’t hit the high notes during “Midnight Rider” and had to change down a gear, otherwise he was in great form.

Unfortunately, because of his sore throat he had to cut the gig short, there were 18 songs on the set list but he only played 14, so we got about 1˝ hours instead of his planned 2, but hey, it was 1˝ hours of pure pleasure that I had waited a long time to hear.

The band played really tight and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, particularly Floyd Miles when he sang his couple of numbers. The set list played was as follows …..

1. I’m No Angel
2. Just Before The Bullets Fly
3. House Of Blues
4. You Must Be Crazy (Floyd on vocals)
5. Dreams
6. Key To The Highway
7. Turn On Your Lovelight
8. Multi-Colored Lady
9. Can’t Turn You Loose
10. Melissa
11. Back To Daytona (Floyd on vocals)
12. Midnight Rider
13. Statesboro Blues
14. Whipping Post

Let’s hope Gregg enjoyed himself enough to convince the rest of the ABB gang to come over to London next summer 2008 as I understand is being considered … we sure do miss you on these shores boys!!!

Shared a couple of brews in O’Neill’s Pub with some fellow UK fans before the show … great company, great show, great night … looking forward now to October when the dTb will be in town.

Oh ... and in case you were wondering about the picture from the post-Mule celebration that Kim refers to ... here it is ...

I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the guy standing on the left, nor the Norwegian guy seated on the right ... but in between those are Barry (Hippy69), Colin (harvey), Jan (Colin's Wife), Heidi (Del's Girlfriend) and Alan (alans)

Colin, sounds like your glass is at least half full where Jan is concerned. Nice that your beloved shares your musical taste to that extent. From what I've read over the years on this site, many spouses eschew the other's musical interests. Party on Garth! {A Saturday Night Live, Milke Myers reference! }

Nice pic!

With the highs of the last three weeks gigs, Elvis Costello, Mule and Gregg - Derek in October seems a long way off........ The preshow gatherings were great - it's always good to see everyone. Seems like everyone's been friends for ever, but it all only started with Mule in April 05 (I know some had met before at the Beacon, though).

Thanks for posting the photo, Colin, (still haven't figued out how to do it). We may have another bro' to join us as a chap called Martyn has contacted me as he lives only about 10 miles away in Devizes, so probably meet up for a pint. Made sure he knew abot DTB in October. He and his brother were at both Mule and Gregg.

Have a good weekend folks!

Hi ALL!

I'm listening to the beginning of Liz Reed off the 4th Dreams disc.

I'm off to Rama today for a few days of R&R and ABB. Lots of packing ahead of me so right now I'm procrastinating, sitting here drinking a lovely cup of coffee, listening to the Bros. and thinking about you guys.

Wish You Were Here...

Have a great week!

Love to all...

Hi Colin...Hi All!

Thanks for your good wishes, Colin!

I'm still recovering from my 'vacation'. I need a holiday to recover from my holiday!

Ok, a brief report...

Tues. night, decided not to sit in our seats and got down front to stand in front of Derek and Oteil. {BTW, this is permitted at Rama...there is a section in front of the stage where folks can stand} Not necessarily a good choice cause Derek was quite loud and so was Oteil so that when Warren soloed I really had a hard time hearing his playing. Derek's backup playing was louder than Warren's solos. I vowed that I would be standing in front of Warren for Wed. night come hell or high water and of course, that is what I did. Overall for both nights I thought Derek really smoked and I would have liked Warren to have turned up his guitar volume.

Musical highlights Tues...Best highlight was Can't Lose What You Never Had...one of my favourites and I have not had the pleasure of hearing it live. The tempo was perfect, slower just like the recording. Enjoyed Old Before My Time, Come and Go Blues, Don't Keep Me Wondering {love the slide parts} and Jessica.

Wed. night, as I said I made a bee line to Warren and had the enormous pleasure of being right in front of him all night. Could hear him better {but as I said, still not well enough}. A personal Warren and Me highlight was Warren smiling at me, me smiling back, flashing him the peace sign, blowing him a kiss and both of us smiling some more.

Musical highlights Wed....A Melissa opener!! And Warren played a beautiful closing solo. The band was in the pocket and hittin the note right off the top. The band was hot right from the word "go" and IMO this is the better night. Loved Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad, Franklin's Tower, Woman Across the River, No One To Run With {spectacular and moving montage of Duane, Gregg, Berry, Allen} and Liz Reed. I was hoping for a Dreams encore but not to be.

Other highlights...After the Wed. show at the stage, Gregg signed our Gregg Allman Tour cd cover! That was a thrill!

On Tues. night in the Rama lounge Jaimoe signed Sandy's acoustic guitar {and drew a mushroom around his signature }. Sandy sang and played for a few of us plus Jaimoe and Brian Farmer.

Spending time with Jack and his sister Fran and Karen {Big Six Peach Head} and Lynn. Loved our before and after show get togethers. Got to bed about 6am Wed. morning after spending time in Karen and Lynn's room, then to the lounge, then back to Karen and Lynn's room again to talk and sing with Sandy playing and singing off and on through the night.

All in All, a wonderful few days spent with the Best Band in the Land and the Best folks/fans/friends in the Land.

Colin, love your shirt! Thank you for posting the pic and for making me smile.

Love to all...

Hey Kim ... so glad you had such a great time

... and you got to meet Gregg & Jaimo too ... I am very jealous ...

Thank you for the great review ... and I'm glad you got to hang with Karen & Lynn ... they are such a lovely couple and meeting them is one of the great pleasures of my Beacon experiences.

Hope you don't find it too hard getting back into the routine ... love to you

Nice hair-do and a nice shirt...

Hello all!

It's been awhile... but I was busy vacationing. Quoting Kim: "I'm still recovering from my 'vacation'. I need a holiday to recover from my holiday!" I feel the same...

The first week at work is almost over and it's time to go home...

It's great to be back and "see" you all. I've thinking you a lot...

See you around!

Happy Sunday everybody!

Sandy saw Eric Burden and the Animals last night at our local Blues Fest. {I was indisposed and couldn't go to the show.} Sandy says he is still a great singer with a good improvisational style and the highlight was Don't Bring Me Down. Unfortunately, Eric did not play Sandy's other favourites: Monterey, Sky Pilot, and San Francisco Nights.

Today at 2 pm, it is the men's final in the Roger's Cup in Montreal. Roooogeeer vs Noooleee! I expect this will be a very exciting match! Good luck to Nole but better luck to Roger. Hope you are watching the match too, Zeka.

Next year the tournament is held in Toronto and I want to attend {at least} the final. I've never been to a 'live' tennis match and I want to see Roger 'live'.

Peach Out...

Hello, my dear S&B!
What to say, sis Kim? I have wrote somewhere here about the game Roger vs. Nole in the future. Yesterday was that day! I am sure that you know that Nole is from my country - Serbia. For me, Roger is still No. 1!
Back to the work with a nice memories of Greece.
Yes, now is on In memory of ER from the best stuff Live at FE!
Have a nice day and week!
Love!

Hello Zeka,

I'm not sure if travelling from Novi Sad to Skopje in Macedonia is an option (distance wise and poltical climate wise) for you but i want to let you know that the Derek Trucks Band is playing in Skopje on the 22nd of Oktober !!!!! See the DTB tour page (no further details yet).

Maybe even an option for Danis in Northen Greece?

Cheers

Yes! Skopje is not far away from Novi Sad (think about 600 km, what is nothing for the plain). And now a nice news: A few min ago had a SMS from my dear bro Danis. He is at a trip to Novi Sad and we will meet in the couple of hours. I'm so happy! Of course, we'll talk face to face about DTB and Skopje! Thanks, Dutch!
Have a nice day, my dear S&B!
Love!
Zeka

Hey Zeka ... that is great news about the dTb in Skopje ... will you drive the 600km or get a plane from Belgrade to Skopje?

Nice that you and Danis will be meeting up for a drink in Novi Sad too ... say "Hi" for me and have a nice cold Pivo ...

I will be seeing dTb in London a couple of weeks earlier on Oct 11 so I'll let you know how much I enjoyed them ...

Vidimo se sutra

Hello Everybody!

Zeka, welcome back from your holiday and good news re: dTb and your visit with Danis! And congrats to Nole. But not too many victories against our #1 Roger, ok?!

David, howdy to you too, my friend! Hope all is well with you.

David, can I ask your advice about something?
We have to get a new furnace unit {we already have a Carrier A/C}. We are deciding between a Carrier 58 MCB {standard hi-efficiency...up to 92.1% efficiency} and a Carrier Infinity hi-efficiency {up to 96.6 efficiency}. Upgrade to the Infinity will cost us an extra $1900.00 plus 8% tax. Is the upgrade to the Infinity worth the extra $ upfront? Supposedly, with the Infinity, we will save more $ on gas and electricity and it gives 'more comfort' due to the more continuous operation at a lower fan speed.

Also, we are considering adding a Honeywell Humidifier to the furnace for $400.00 plus 8% tax. Good idea? {We are thinking of going for the Humidifier.}

Finally, we could add a General Aire AC-1 Air Cleaner {filter system} to the unit for $450.00 plus tax. Good idea? {We are not so keen on this as an added expense.}

Sorry to trouble you with this but I really need some knowledgeable advice. Please don't feel you have to sweat this at all. Thanks for your help but don't help me so much that it gives you a headache or pisses you off!!!

All the best to All!
