Good morning my international friends and happy new year!

Because the original Peaches and Sunshine has been shut down Kim and me had a quick pow-wow and decided to launch Peaches and Sunshine phase II (where Doris gets her oats). Welcome all old and new members!

The winterstorm of the decade is going to hit Finland just about any minute... Scalefore winds... Let's see if I am able to keep in contact with you guys later today. Anyway, it rained very heavily last night and the wind kept howling. I was afraid that a tree might fall upon our house but luckily no such thing occured.

See you all later!

Garry ..... we couldn't batter fish at the moment ..... and as for a "one day" match ..... I think we will be in trouble with the Trade Description people because I can't see it lasting more than half a day at best

Hello Petri & Happy New Year!

good luck with the weather - it seems like others are getting the snowstorms that usually circle over my home in the Northeast US.

Hang in - thoughts of sunshine could very well bring some rays!

Hello my international friends,

and thanks for the well wishes... but what happened was a major anti-climax (luckily). The scaleforce winds that I anticipated never arrived with their full force. I think the peak of the so-called storm was the night before. Thank God for that, nothing serious happened... No trees falling on top of the houses in our area, only minor cuts in electricity in some parts of the land.

Today it's snowing but the temperature at least here in Helsinki is so warm that the snow is melting away...

Glad everything turned out ok Petri

I think we have those winds over here in the UK today ..... it is extreemly blustery outside my office at the moment and there are reports on the radio of high sided trucks overturned on a highway up in Scotland .....

Happy Thursday everybody

Hi, my dear S&B!
At the end I see that you are all here! Ha-ha!
I'm waiting for my new ABB t-shirt. Everyday sounds of the golden gift from my dear bro Colin (CDs Beacon 2006) in my house. Nice weather here with a lot of sun and the suny ABB music!
Love to all!
Zeka

Wintertime Greetings to all!

Saw Robert Gordon robertgordon.com{70's New Wave of Punk Rockabilly} and Chris Spedding chrisspedding.com in Toronto this past Sat. night. Well sort of... Sandy and I were in TO to see our fave trad Jazz band and we noticed in the local music mag that they were playing The Cadillac Ranch in the West end of TO. With NO tickets in hand we headed over there hoping to get in but the club was full so we could not. But because the club is on street level in a 'storefront' bar, and the band was set up directly inside the front window, we stayed and listened to the band from the street, right outside the window!

At this point, Robert's band was playing sans Robert so we got to hear lots of the great British guitar legend Chris Spedding, who has played with Elton John, Paul McCartney, Jack Bruce, Joan Armatrading, John Cale, Mickey Baker etc. and Robert's bass player and drummer. After a period of time, I look up and see Robert Gordon hanging out a few feet away from me, having a smoke, waiting to go into the club and jump up on stage. So I said hello and we talk about how happy we are to see Chris back in the band and he says that it has been 13 years since they last played together. Robert told us that they just recorded a cd of Elvis tunes with the Jordanaires. I said that was very cool and asked if the arrangements were different or the same as the ones Elvis sang. He said they were "pretty close". When he was cued, he went into the club, jumped on stage and started his show. Of course, we got to hear it hanging out on Queen St. !

Near the end of Robert's show, a guy in a red Rockabilly shirt said, "You guys can't get in?" We said, 'No". So he led us around the corner and through a very dark alley into the rear of the club! So we got to SEE and hear the last 15 or so minutes of the concert.

Hi Rob! No Beacon shows for me unfortunately! I wait for the summer and hope the Brothers come to Southern Ontario. I've been blessed the last two years--05 in Toronto and two shows in 06 in Niagara Falls, Canada. Of course, I very much want them to come back again this summer!!
Are you going to the Beacon?

Zeka, my dear bro, very nice to see you've found your way home.

BTW, The Australian Open is on for the next two weeks. Can y'all say Roger Federer?!
Whoo Hoo, I love tennis.

Love to all...

Hi Rob,

Have a wonderful time at the Beacon enjoying the Bros. and Colin's company. Although we have posted to one another here for a few years now, I've not had the pleasure of meeting him in person. Maybe one day.

I live an hour and a half west of Toronto so I am quite far from you. I looked at a map and your state appears to be just south and east of Montreal. I have seen the Bros. at Darien Lake and in Syracuse. In fact, the first ABB show we ever saw was Darien Lake in 97. Awesome! Best concert ever.

Colin, btw, in case you are interested and if you are a Bryan Ferry fan, Chris Spedding is playing with him all through the month of March in the UK. All the dates are posted on Chris' website.

Hello my international friends!

No Beacon for me, I'm afraid... Too expensive at this situation of life... It would be wonderful to see ABB live and meet all the nice people that I have met only here but... Luckily there are those wonderful tapers and all the other kind folks who spread the music.

Last week was truly a busy one, I had to work hard on a lecture that I gave in a seminar for history teachers on Saturday. And now it is time sto start work on our annual report...

The weather here in Europe has been awful during the last couple of weeks. Winter stroms hit f.ex. Great Britain, Germany and the west coast of Sweden very hard and also we had our share of winds and minor floods on the coastal side. Over 40 people were reported lost their lives in the central Europe because of these stroms! I sincerely hope that our friends in Europe are safe and sound! Colin, Peter, Roger and all the others, I hope you are all alright.

BTW, the best band of 2006 is... not ABB or dTb or Mule but von Hertzen Brothers from Finland! Their record "Approach" is simply breath-taking! If you like rock music with echoes of 60s psychedelia, 70s prog rock, some eastern flavors, gorgeous three part harmonies, ace guitar playing and simply monstrous drumming, CHECK this one out!!! www.vonhertzenbrothers.com - pages are in English and have music samples and videos! End of commercial break.

That's all folks, see you later!

Hiya Petri

Sorry to see you are getting such nasty weather! We have had mild winter here. the first week of Jan. was 60 degrees here. It has been 40 to 50 degrees up until a week ago Not good for New England.

Will have to check vonhertzenbrothers. Always up for new music

And amen on the tapers. We are so lucky to have them to share this great music.

Welcome to the new week everybody

Hey Petri ... nice to "see" you again ... I was getting worried about you

Been very windy here this past week ... seems to have died down now though ... lots of trees been blown over, rooves off houses, garden fences down etc. but we have been lucky ... the only thing we had break was a flower pot in the garden ... but there is lots of debris lying around the garden, so I'll have a bit of tidying up to do next weekend ... sounds like just the thing to work up a beer appetite

Petri I like what I hear with the Vonhertzenbrothers.

If you get a chance you need to check out Devon Allman's HoneyTribe out.
