here are 2 photos from last night - I have many, many, many, MANY more to get through in the next week or so, but wanted to tease y'all a little. I'll post a few more in the next day or so perhaps, before unleashing the whole lot on you folk, or you can sign up on my little email list and get a message when they're posted.

In the Derek/Susan one you can see the backdrop, which was sweet - it had this whole zebra-stripe trippy thing going on between the banners w/ the Derek SG & Susan Telecaster abstracts.

Nice job on the photos Josh! As someone who likes to shoot some of the concerts I go to, I'd be interested in what gear you're using, and tips or tricks you'd like to share. thanks!

Your photos from last year's NYE show were incredible, and these look great, too. I've always admired your work. I even have one of your shots from the ABB Beacon run last year as my PC's wallpaper.

Can't wait for the rest of the shots.

Here are a couple more:

Fujirich:

I'm a Canon guy - I shoot w/ a 30D w/ the BG-E2 battery grip as my main body, and use the 300D (old digital rebel) w/ the BG-E1 battery grip as a second/back-up (used both at this show).

lenses used at the NYE show are Canon's 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.0, and 16-35mm f/2.8L

I've included the techinical info for you on these four, and for other camera geeks like ourselves:

Derek (1st): 300D, 16-35mm f/2.8L @ 31mm, 1/100, ISO 400
Derek/Susan: 30D, 16-35mm f/2.8L @ 26mm, 1/125, ISO 500
Derek (2nd): 30D, 50mm f/1.4, 1/320, ISO 500
Kofi: 30D, 16-35mm f/2.8L @ 16mm, 1/80, ISO 500

That's wierd. Kofi usually has his Clav on his B3... he hasn't had the motif up there since summer '04. That's gotta be a wierd changeup.

Great pics as always.

Thanks for the tech info Josh! Given the lenses you're using, shutter speeds, ASA, and how much you are obviously filling the frame, you've gotta be getting pretty close. I would assume stage passes and some right from the front edge of the stage. Good for you - very nice work!

Josh was indeed an invited guest of the Derek Trucks Band, shooting right up on the stage.
I almost didn't recognize Josh with the new clean-cut short hair! The last time I saw him at Wakarusa he had hair almost as long as mine used to be

By the way, the backdrops were designed and created by Jeff Wood of Drowning Creek Studios. He also did the Songlines CD and DVD covers, the Live at Georgia Theater cover, the recent Derek poster we had at HTN that sold out, and basically any other Derek Trucks Band graphics or artwork you've seen over the past few years. He also did the design for that shirt, susea, which was the cover image of the program that HTN put together for the event.

You're welcome

And like Rob said, I was shooting for the band, their "official photographer." Y'all didn't realize you were in the presence of greatness, now, did you LOL!

I'm going to try to get these up tonight, but I have a LOT of RAW -> JPG conversions to get through, so it may be a few days.

Were you right behind the temporary seats over the orchestra pit (first row of permanent seats)? If so, I think you asked me to get you a beer one time as I squeezed by!

Nice! I am still hitting myself each day for not having a camera at Berklee. I got an autograph and shook Derek's hand but that is not as good as a pic.

You must have gotten him a beer. Noticed he had a couple of wet spots on his shirt that looked like "beerness"
