From the peachogram

During their traditional end of March run, every Allman Brothers Band show at the Beacon Theatre in NYC (12 or more!) could be webcast with multiple high definition cameras, in full stereo sound! The shows could then be streamed live, and looped until the next show starts.

YES

No
http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/beaconno.html

The Allman Brothers Band and Moogis are willing to go for it, but they need to know if you really, really want it.

The cost would be $100 for the entire Beacon run and would include your free one year subscription to Moogis.

man, i voted YES by accident by clicking on one of those links.

Not that I'm against the idea (or the cost - less than ONE night's Orch ticket)....but....I'm on dial-up and streaming video isn't all that doable.

I agree. I'd rather buy DVD's if I was going to buy anything. The webcast idea just doesn't do it for me. I'm sure the price is fair, but it's absolutely not worth it for me.

Agreed , why would I want to see HD on my computer screen ?

On my 50" plasma via my 5.1 system, that's another story.

I vote NO until they get a better plan.

same here...great idea, not so great plan for execution.....

personally, i would log on to watch a show or two, but if i couldnt download or purchase copies (especially of the shows i go to) i wouldnt pay $100 just to tune in. i'm perfectly content with the audio copies that circulate after the run.

also, what does a one year subscription to moogis get you?

this is what I have been waiting for. I bumped up a old thread about this topic.
This will be great..................I would think they would make a DVD out of it. They are due
a new DVD. I am sure there is a huge demand for another beacon DVD. I know I have worn my 2nd copy of my Beacon DVD out.

A DVD instant live is a hell of a idea. Of course if its made available to everyone, not just the attendees.

Like a lot of you I have "dial-up" and "streaming videos" really don't work very well for me. Also, watching a concert on a small computer screen, through computer speakers really doesn't "do it" for me. Actually, what I like to see done, is take the Instant Live idea from just using CDs, to using both CD and the DVD format. Most concert venues (at least at ampitheaters anyway) always have a video feed of the concert, so why not record that video feed onto a DVD with the audio? To me, I think a lot of people would get more enjoyment being able to watch and listen to the ABB from a IL DVD than from a webcast. Just my .02 cents.

I actually have a couple of really great boots of some PAF shows with Warren & Jimmy where the guy held a DVD camcorder at the video screen (where the video feed was displayed for the audience), and it is great!

It seems that htis initial idea about webcasting is not thought through to who the customer is. For $100 you get to watch it on your computer. Well maybe the fan with a great screen & speakers for their computer would get a kick out of this, and maybe they would be willing to shell out the dough. But the average fan with average multimedia capability on their computer was not targeted for this idea. So it seems that really discriminates (meant from a sales angle) against a lot of people who would otherwise shell out the $100 for a couple of DVD's!

My monitor and speakers will do just fine, but if its a 2inch by 2 inch screen shot that comes through I wouldn't be very interested.

After reading the above posts. I can see your points about streaming video. You get up to get another beer and you miss it. I voted yes, but now I can understand the no vote. Good point folks..................

A few things:

Who are the Moogis crew? What do they have to do with this?

If thecost is generated from having this crew do the work, how about using some volunteers for some of this?

With the future of Beacon runs in question, getting an entire Beacon run on film would be incredible, AND very sellable.

The audience that should be targeted here is the "archivists", or those of us fans that want to have as many shows as possible. We are the ones that would be willing to smack down even a couple of hundred for a well done Beacon run on film.

Now if the investment was made in a HD 5.1 filming of the whole run avaiable thru HTN for a night-by-night purchase (like IL's) I guarantee you they would do better than providing a webcast (in terms of return on investment).

Can I get a hell yeah vote for this last idea?

seems to me that the band is trying to do something positive to bring the Beacon to the rather large number of people that could not normally make it there...very cool gesture

had to vote no as it is currently described. If there was going to be a permanent DVD in my hand then yes or possibly a reduced cost just audio version I would be game. I do not see how a streaming video would work very well.

I've got DSL but an old PC with windows 98 running and with rather mediocre
(read: shabby) speakers so i voted "No". Well actually if my PC was a brand new state of the art home entertaiment system with a feed to a huge flat screen i still wouldn't pay
$ 100,00 to sit behind my PC for 10, 12 or 14 nights. I ain't paying that kind of money for just some streaming video. Muchos dineros for something that might suffer from various technical issues. Or is this Moogis company experienced and equipt enough to pull this of flawlessly? Maybe they will but instead my PC or provider acts up or something keeps me from hanging in front of my PC for 2 weeks, no sorry this thing doesn't do it for me.
I would rather spend it on the west best set from 2006 or any future official release of a Beacon event on CD or DVD. Since IL DVD's from the Beacon Run apparently are out of the question how about a Wanee DVD Boxset???
