Ok, so what songs, new, old, or totally different, would we like to hear this time? My vote for "totally different" is for Down & Out In New York City, my favorite track from the Mule's D. E. vol. 1. I think the ABB could really do a fantastic version. Also, High Cost Of Low Living is right at the top of the "new" list for me.

Wasted Words

Get On With Your Life

Hot'Lanta > Firing Line show opener

Acoustic Set - 3 or 4 songs. 2 is too few, but the 5 or 6 they were doing in '98 was too much. "Death Letter," "Come 'n Go Blues," "Old Friend" and "Melissa" would be just fine with me. Maybe a few more tunes given the acoustic treatment, and then vary them night-to-night, keeping the mini-set to 3 or 4 songs.

And vary up the bass solo spot. Why does it always have to be after the drums? It'd be cool if Oteil took shorter ones DURING the songs (e.g., Same Thing, Bullets Fly, Hot'Lanta) -- or perhaps do one during the long jam song BEFORE the drums so that Oteil has somebody to play off of for awhile, then let the BAND fall off leaving Oteil onstage to solo for a bit longer by himself before the band coming back in. A short solo by Oteil playing through the changes during Hot'Lanta would be super-cool.

Working up True Gravity and/or Kind of Bird would be cool. And I don't think TOO far-fetched either, with Warren having co-written them. Derek and Oteil could tear up Bird, so that would be particularly sweet.

Zambi hit it on the head for me - I hope they do that b/c it will really make the shows more interesting.

Many good picks here already, but I will throw in Nobody Knows and Les Brers in A Minor. Two more "Dickey songs" that are collaborative in nature and not signature tunes like Liz Reed or Jessica

Sounds like Wasted Words and Can't Lose What You Never Had are very possible...

I'd love to hear Win Lose or Draw...

or even a smoking workout of Turn on Your Lovelight

All in all, it should be a good run...

You actually can type in larger fonts; check the FAQ page.

I'd love to see them import Time to Confess or Beautifully Broken from the Mule catalog and let Gregg sing them. Could be a cosmic experience

Great idea, Linus! There are a number of great Mule tunes they could do. I'd love to hear them do Drivin Rain as well! I'd also like to hear Worried Down With The Blues. I had DE vol. 1 on in my car today, & that tune just sounds soooooooo good! & that's got both Warren & Gregg on vocals. & they could do Banks Of The Deep End. With Gregg, or Warren, or both!

I'd love to see Nobody Knows - this is the best post reunion song IMHO. And probably one of the top 10 of all times for the ABB. A real smoker, that ONLY works with Warren and Gregg - and probably would go just fine with Derek too.

Worried Down with the Blues is an Allman Brothers song and they play it regularly, about every 3 nights. I wouldn't expect to see them play any Mule stuff.

It's a wish list, not a reasonable expectation list. As for Wasted Words 1st song 1st set, i've been there when they did that and I think it would be better down in the setlist-just as long as they play it

I'd almost bet on Wasted Words....'course someone mentioned in another thread Firing Line as the first song to be played...that made some sense as it's the first single off Hittin the Note...

Sandman, for the last nite at the Wiltern here in L.A., my road-dog Scotty made 2 sheet size signs that we hung from our 1st row Balconey seats ... Ones said Happy Birthday Derek, and the other said, Play Mountain Jam Please !! Well, they were taken down after intermission, but Otiel played Happy Birthday To You for Derek, and we got a Mountain Jam ..... Worth a try !!

Back to the topic: After an amazing "Whippin Post" encore, Gregg comes back out, sits down at the keys, and plays "Oncoming Traffic" ....

( our flight for new york leaves in exactly 14 daze ! )
