I don't know what's going to happen with Bernie. He doensn't want to play anywhere else, but he doesn't want to retire. Tough call.

I think they should move Abreu( contract is up anyway) and let Melky start. He has earned it.

Then they can sign Bernie play one more year as a 4th outfielder.

I also see that Jorge's contract is up as well.
I dont see him leaving though.. Especailly since we really dont have anyone waiting in the wings.
Wish they disnt trade Navarro for Johnson

Mistake. Melky is, at best, a 4th outfielder. Abreu is better on a bad day than Melky is on a good one.

You're forgetting that Chuck secretly has a crush on Melky

Yankee pitchers and catchers arrived in camp yesterday, and already Mo is throwing around the "R" word, as in R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me...sound familiar, Pedro?

Yankees closer Mariano Rivera raised the possibility of leaving New York at the end of this season, according to George King of the New York Post. Rivera's contract is up after the World Series. "I know I have one more year," Rivera told reporters Monday following a light workout at the club's minor-league complex. "After that, I don't know what's going to happen. Definitely I want to finish my career here, but if they don't give the respect that I deserve, I have to move on." Rivera's agent said he has had no contact with the Yankees about a possible extension and he does not expect to have any by the end of the season.

Howdy Diamondheads!

Been out of town for 10 days, just making it back in time to catch the Daily News's first (of many) "Aaron Heilman wants to start" stories.

Personally I wish they would give him a shot in camp. If he's developed another out pitch, he's better news than Chan Ho Park in the 5 slot. I've never understood the TOTAL unwillingness to even let the guy TRY.

Bad New today.

Barry Bonds* signed his contract & will report to training camp.

http://www.comcast.net/sports/index.jsp?cat=SPORTS&fn=/2007/02/15/58822 3.html

Guess I was holding onto that little ray of hope that Bonds* would use the reworked contract as a way out and do the right thing for Baseball. Guess not. Deep down I always figured that he thinks himself more important than the Game.

Bonds do the right thing? What color is the sky on the planet you live on? Bonds cares about one thing, himself. I wish Clemens would sign with Houston and put one in Bonds ear. With the size of that head, he couldn't miss.

As someone pointed out ( and I missed this...)

The Yanks and Boston both play SF this year

No matter what.. at some point.. Barry* will prolly face Roger

I would imagine Schilling will have a little swet chin music goin on as well

Nah, Bonds* just came off of a knee operation. Hit him there.

I'll even volunteer.

Where's Tanya Harding & her goons when you need 'em?

Well in that case....

Andy Pettitte is too nice of a guy to headhunt.

But I do think he would "knee-hunt"

Hey CB, aren't you an Orioles fan? If so, good luck with Trachsel. Pack a couple of meals if you go to a game he pitches. It will be a looooooooong day.

Don't worry about that. I've made a commitment to not give Peter Angelos any more of my hard earned money. Haven't been to an O's game since Ripken left.

Oops, I did tell Wharfy that if he wanted to see a Yankees game at Camden Yards I'd go.......but that's it. BTW, Camden Yards is a beautiful place to see a ballgame.

Angelos has completed the ruination of a good franchise. 'Effin' Lawyers!

I agree. Baltimore used to be a great franchise. You could count on them being in the thick of things throughout the season.

Yep, throughout the '60's to the '80's until the first lawyer, Edward Bennett Williams, got hold of the ownership and decided what the O's needed were players like Allan Wiggins & Glen Davis. Now Angelos goes for Albert Belle & Sammy Sosa.

I wonder how many players want to be traded now that Anna Benson won't be around much this year.
Fans too.

Brian Cashman, playing Russian Roulette with Mariano.
I hope this doesn't get ugly, and end with a bad taste.
This is not going to be a fun topic to watch all year.
It's actually going to make me sick I think

I love Camden Yards. What a Ballpark

Thanks. Camden Yards is the perfect place to watch a ballgame.

Right about now, it's the only thing we got going for us.

I know fans like this..
They don't really hate the Yankees, they hate that they are not the Yankees.
So, now, I just pity them.
You really want to impress...do that while you have the Bleacher Creatures standing by .
THAT, would be a picture!!

Hey Pup, what's up? If you hadn't put that face after that comment, I'd have thought you were serious.

LOL..I made that mistake the first time I posted here, and I got gang raped. And not one of you sent me flowers, or called afterwards.

And there are fan's who do hate the fact they are not Yankee's fans, and they don't have our tradition. That's where their resentment come's from.
But it's always been good natured jabs from me, even if it didn't always appear to be.
