My problem is they are only doing this because Bonds is going to break the HR record. I hate the guy I know that is a strong word but I do.

If they targeted all sports and implement same rules across the board then I wouldn't have problem.

Baseball's testing is the WORST in all of sports. Again, the owners have turned a blind eye long enough.. Im sure some Yanks will get burned too ( Giambi) bit I dont care.
Get these bastards either cleaned up, or kick them out of the game.

Ok, I feel better now

No. He's right.

The BoSox only win once a century, so he obviously means 3007.

The Yank speaks the truth again. And it is very rare I believe more government intervention is a good thing.

I agree with it being the worst. But it has to be all sports. The NFL is just as bad as is the NBA. I am sure Hockey has its problems too.

I would not want to be Bud Selig, when he has to walk on the field sometime in June, or July and congratulate Bond's for #756..that is going to be a sad day. Henry Aaron say's he won't attend...will baseball force him to...can they?
Testing in MLB is a joke. They have already moved on to taking HGH which can only be detected in the blood, and BB does not test blood, only urine. Until they implement a testing method like the US Olymipics, it will continue to be a joke.
I just recieved my tickets for January 31st which is for the Thurman Munson foundation for Retarded children at the Sheraton NYC. It is a great night, with many Yankee stars, past and present. I'm sure this will be the top topic discussed amonst the tables.
I will give you all the lowdown the day after. The old timers dont have much to say..they have been doing greenies(uppers) since the 50's, and if there were steroids readily available, some of them would have done those too!

I agree that it was a tragedy. Just wish they didn't change the rules because of it.

Did you have a problem when they did the same thing, years earlier, so Lou Gerhig would go in before he died?

Part of a column from the Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle:

http://chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/justice/baseball/4472889.html

And what about Aaron?
Selig is going to have to recognize Bonds as baseball's new home run king. He'll have to smile and make a speech, pose for photographs and treat it as a historic moment. He'll have to decide whether to invite Hank Aaron to share the pain.

Aaron wants nothing to do with Bonds, but he has been Selig's friend for four decades. If Selig asks, Aaron will be there. He won't like it, but he'll be there.

Selig despises Bonds. He might not despise him personally, but he certainly despises what Bonds represents. For one thing, Bonds reminds Selig of his failings as commissioner.

Until we have a Commissioner who is not hired by the owners, it doesn't matter who he is..he will still be a puppet.

Best Bob Gibson story: When Tim Mc Carver was going out to the mound to talk to Gibson in the middle of one of his few jams, Before Tim could get halway to the mound, Gibson snarls "get back behind the plate, all you know about Pitching is you can't hit it!"

As a good start the owners could re-implement the clause that gives the commissioner the power to act in the best interest of the game. Funny how things went downhill after that was removed.
