I know this was posted under another thread, but I thought maybe more people would see it if a new one was started -

ROCHESTER SHOW UPDATE
Gov't Mule's concert this Saturday 12/2 in Rochester, NY at the Main Street Armory has been moved to the Harro East Theatre and Ballroom. We regret making this change, however, it became increasingly clear that The Main Street Armory and its owner Scott Donaldson were ill equipped to host this show. Mr. Donaldson double booked his venue with a civil Service Exam this Saturday despite our early load in being scheduled for months. Donaldson has been unreachable since Monday, and although his actions have created quite a mess, from our standpoint, the show must go on.

Gov't Mule treats every one of its performances with the utmost importance and is committed to a level of professionalism that we did not feel we could attain at the Armory. Therefore in the best interest of our fans, we have opted move the show to the Harro East Ballroom.

All tickets from the Armory will be honored at Harro East. In addition, there are a VERY limited number of tickets remaining for the show via Ticketmaster (starting Thursday at Noon) and Mule Ticketing (RIGHT NOW).

I'm hoping this whole disaster doesn't mean we'll never get the Mule to come to town again. Although I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world since I prefer the Landmark in Syracuse or the Town Ballroom in Buffalo to anything Rochester's got anyway...

But hey the show's on, so LET'S ROCK!!!!!!

If the Mule wasn't gonna keep their commitment, they never would have negotiated the venue change.

Can you imagine the amount of phone calls and emails that happened between Monday and today between Hard Head and the venues and promoters and such up there? I can and I bet it took away from moving forward with Christmas Jam and NYE plans.

If that doesn't speak to the Mule and their team's commitment to the Upper NY State fans, I don't know what does?

Anyway I bought a ticket but the weather doesn't look promising.

Great news! At least it won't be an evening spent on shaky ground anymore... bad, bad publicity for the Armory.

Harro East will be cool. And I don't think the weather will be so bad... the weathermen like to really overplay it around here.

The Harro is gonna be a KILLER venue for this show. Very intimate but we will still get the full effect of the lightshow. Should sound wonderful and a great veiw anywhere in the place. This show is gonna kick some serious butt!

Thanks to Hardhat and the boys for not giving up due to shenannagans of an ASSCLOWN...

See you at the Dino!

I'm not even sure who Hardhead is, but I'd sure like to thank him and whoever else is responsible for getting the Harro East to put the show on. I'm sure moving a show at the last minute like this is a major pain in the butt.

Of course Chuck Norris was probably somehow involved also, since Chuck can do ANYTHING!!

Just an aside here, the original Dino in Syracuse has been shut down due to what is believed to be an outbreak of food poisoning. Nearly three hundred people have come down with this. Just a heads up. Hate to see you folks missing a great show because you had a bad "House Special."

Dinosaur closes for cleanup; 278 report getting ill
Friday, December 01, 2006
By Sue Weibezahl
Staff writer

The Dinosaur Bar-B-Que restaurant voluntarily closed its doors Thursday afternoon after 278 people called the Onondaga County Health Department to report becoming ill after eating there last weekend and earlier this week.

The restaurant will stay closed today, Saturday and Sunday to give employees a chance to discard ice and prepared foods and thoroughly clean and sanitize the building, said Jean Smiley, Onondaga County's deputy health commissioner.

"We need to break this cycle," owner John Stage said. "The Health Department suggested closing, and I think it's a . . . good idea. I'm not worried about the business; I'm just worried about ending this sickness."

Stage said about 20 restaurant employees have called in sick with the same illness; the Dinosaur restaurants in Rochester and Harlem haven't had any problems.

By 5 p.m. Thursday, employees asked patrons to finish their meals and stopped taking new customers, Smiley said. Health officials will oversee the cleaning of the restaurant. The time it is closed should also give sick employees a chance to get better to prevent any future transmission, she said.

Health officials have had to open additional phone

lines to keep up with the dramatic increase in calls about people who ate at the Dinosaur and later experienced cramps, vomiting and diarrhea.

Dr. Cynthia Morrow, the county's health commissioner, said some lab reports should be in today to confirm if the gastrointestinal illness was caused by a problem with the food. Tests to determine whether an airborne virus was the cause will take weeks to complete, she said.

Gary Sauda, the health department's director of environmental health, said the infection is behaving like a virus. A virus can be transmitted several ways, he said: It could be airborne or it could have landed on a surface that had contact with food or people. However it spread, the illness appears to be very powerful.

"The virus is so intense that it is causing contamination," he said.

This isn't funny, but I will say it would have been even less funny if this happened a few days later. Wow.
--------------------------------------

600 sickened after eating at N.Y. bar

2 hours, 58 minutes ago

At least 600 people came down with a gastrointestinal illness after eating at a popular biker bar and restaurant, health officials said Friday.

Bacteria have been ruled out as the cause, meaning last weekend's outbreak linked to the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is probably viral and could have spread through air particles, said Cynthia Morrow, health commissioner of Onondaga County.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were notified because the people who may have been affected were from across the country, Morrow said. Patrons from as far away as Massachusetts, New Jersey, Vermont and California have reported symptoms.

Some were sickened after eating at the restaurant, while others became ill after being exposed to those who had, health officials said.

The most common symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and chills lasting 12 to 48 hours.

The county health department on Thursday ordered the restaurant closed for at least 72 hours. Workers threw away hundreds of pounds of prepared foods. No specific foods have been implicated.

Restaurant owner John Stage said he plans to reopen Monday.

I hope this doesn't effect the Rochester location. However, I assume that some employees travel to both locations, who knows if they haven't spread it at the Rochester site. Just keep Warren and the boys away....(I believe they're big Dino fans). Have fun tonight gang, and safe travels. My only hope for my Mule fix is the rebroadcast of the Sirius studio segment from a few days ago. Supposed to be on at 5:00 PM here on the East Coast.

Yeah, I became a little concerned when they said it was a viral infection, though it was totally related to the place. Hope they find out what caused it. Funny, I was just in a training on epidemiology and they used cases like that a bunch.

Turn On Your Lovelight with the Campbell Brothers was over the top! The guys really did a great job on that one, and I wasn't satisfied with a tapping foot...it was a mover! Great show!

As far as the venue goes, now that is a different story altogether.

Last night was interesting to say the least. The show was sold out and people were being turned away at the door. The venue was another story, as Mudflapgirl said. Certainly this place was not built or meant for shows like this. The ceilings were very high and the sound seemed to get lost and muffled. It should be interesting to hear what the recordings sound like. I stood right by the board and still had a tough time hearing what Warren was saying in between songs.

The first set was quite heavy, as I'm sure you can see. The guys really brought the house down with Brand New Angel. For that matter, all of the new stuff was very well received, I thought. Thorazine Shuffle was its usual kick ass self. Trampled Under Foot was a nice touch. The highlight of the first set was definitely Chuck Campbell sitting in on the lap steel for Soulshine. I saw the Campbell Brothers sit in with The Derek Trucks Band before and they were amazing. They were nothing short of amazing last night as well.

The "Mr." sandwich was a nice open to the 2nd set with Mr. Man and Mr. High and Mighty. Endless Parade kind of died on the crowd. It really slowed things down and seemed a little out of place. Luckily Effigy got things going with an amazing drum solo from Matt. Lively Up Yourself and That's What Love Will Make You Do were funky as usual. Mule was a thumping closer which left everyone wanting more Mule.

Both Phil and Chuck came out for one of the best encores I have seen from the Mule. "Lovelight" was an awesome song to close the night. From what I could make out, Warren came up and said something along the lines of "It's Saturday Night, now early Sunday morning and we're gonna send everyone home feelin' good" and that got the crowd roaring. Warren really let the Campbell's take control on this one and the whole band was having a ball up on stage. At one point, Phil and Warren were practically jumping up and down on stage. It was quite the sight! So much energy was in that room for the encore and sent everyone home on a high note. Definitely a great night, even if the venue was not so great.

Peace and love,

Steve

Campbells are great, that's incredible they came out for the Lovelight. I saw them with Derek as well, I think Joyful Noise encore, which actually reminded me of a lovelight at the timewith the high energy, so I can picture what you mean. Also saw R Randolph play it w the Allmans this yr at the Beacon so pedal steel seems to be equated with Lovelight. How cool.

The pictures online of the venue looked great, did it just sound wrong in there? Too boxy or echo or whatever?

I'm sure they tried to make it up though, it looked like by setlist anyway that they had some fun with you.

The sound was great by the stage. A very energetic show. I was singing Turn on Your Lovelight all the way home.

It was great to see everyone again. I had a great time in Syracuse. The BBQ was fantastic.

Oh, I mean Rochester. LOL. It's all upstate to me.

:-)

Er, ah....Actually neither Rochester nor Syracuse is actually "Upstate" NY. Rochester is "Western" NY, and Syracuse is "Central" NY. As someone who is a proud "Upstate" New Yorker, I'm deeply offended you'd equate one with the other! Just kidding, Angel...
Anything about an hour north of Utica all the way directly East to Lake Champlain is "Upstate." Please note this for future reference, damn it! Again, just kidding.......Sounds like it was a great show. I had to settle for the rebroadcast on Sirius. And it was good to hear that Hunter Mountain in '07 sounds very promising (directly from Stef's mouth during the rebroadcast).....

Angel,

I was joking about the upstate thing......Everyone in the world considers "upstate" NY anywhere above White Plains....Yeah, the Hunter thing sounded very encouraging. That will be the soonest I'll be able to see the Mule. Looking forward to going this year, and for a bit less rain. Glad you had a great time...

Sincerely,
Chain.....Lowville, NY (A real upstater )

Ahhh, you guys are always making fun of me, but so true. Yeah, I think upstate is anything north or west of Poughkeepsie. Not quite as bad as White Plains, but not quite Rochester or Malone (ok, I looked at a map). LOL.
