Sorry for being redundant, since I put this in "Shop Talk". Yet I am hoping to get more info here too, from all you great people.
I sort of agree with some of you Peach Heads, warning against buying guitars and other instruments at Musician's Friend, Sam Ash, etc, and to find a mom and pop type store. I agree. I would not buy my home stereo equipment at PC Richard, Best Buy, etc, either. Only in high end stores. I don't know where else I can get a Carver receiver and Polk speakers any place other than high end stores. But where to find one. Does anyone know of any in NYC, specifically Queens and/or Long Island? Would Manny's Music or Rudy's be considered good reputable shops, or are they just like the others? I also seen reference to The Music Zoo, in Little Neck, Queens. Anyone know of this place?
Thanks Peach Dudes.

on 23 street, next to the chelsea hotel(on the left side of the entrance to the hotel)---it may be called chelsea guitars(you can always call the hotel to confirm the name of the place)----leon russell & DUANE had their pics in the front window--some allege they visited & shopped there----well,it's a top notch place--they know their stuff & they may be worth calling --they are reputable, although i don't know if they have or can order what you need--good luck!!

Hey thanks. They have a cool website, with a Hasidic Jewish man kicking butt playing a Les Paul. Don't know if this is a gag or not, but it's pretty wild. I think I'll go there today or tomorrow to check the place out.

Rudy's is still a fine shop. Manny's has been bought by Sam Ash, although they try to disguise that fact.

Yeah - that's a picture I took of Gilmour in Radio City back in April. That particular one was taken as he was doing the "Comfortably Numb" solo. That's Rick Wright on the keyboards towards the right. I was sitting about 8 rows back, and pulled the zoom back a little to catch the lasers for this shot. I've never seen a show where so much smoke was used. Graham Nash and David Crosby came out and sang a few tunes as well, since they were on Gilmour's last album. But it was kinda cool to see them singing "Wish You Were Here" - who woulda ever thunk it...

A little bit of trivia - the guitar strap Gilmour is wearing on his Strat here was a present from his wife. It was formerly Jimi's, and she bought it for her hubby for his birthday. How can I find a wife like that...

Gilmour is also reported to have Fender Stratocaster number 001 in his collection - can you imagine what that thing is worth?

Love David Gilmour (and Roger Waters, and Pink Floyd...). Would have enjoyed seeing Crosby and Nash doing vocals with the Floyd but wasn't to be for me this tour. Great picture (they always have the most amazing lights)! And thanks for the information re: his guitar strap and Strat!

There is an independent guitar store in New Hyde Park, just in LI, but close to Queens/LI border, that I frequent. The owner is Chris, and the store is called The American Guitar Museum. He has a lot of vintage guitars on display, and he sell used (some vintage) guitars mostly.

He is a great source of info and advice too. His website hasn't been updated in a while, but I would check him out if you can.
