Yes, He's the reason I didn't get my xmas jam tickets. I've never had problems getting Xmas Jam tix a day or so after they went on sale. Now we get Dave and every idiot outside of Asheville decides to come to the mountains! He's the guy I'd least like to see on the bill. OK, venting over...

Hey Ashevileans...any chance Warren will show up at the Orange Peel for the Hometown Holiday Jam on Dec. 20th with Mike Barnes and Jeff Sipe? I know he'll be there for the PreJam but $250 per ticket ain't gonna cut it!

I wanna Wanee!!!!!!

the cumulative I.Q. of the crowd will most likely take a nose dive too.

I would imagine some acoustic Dave with Warren Sitting in Would be a first time for them only lpaying acoustic, could be pretty Cool though, I can see the crowd changing though, I hope this does not effect the tapers!!!!

I understand the frustration but Warren seems to enjoy playing with Dave quite a bit. Mule has opened for them several times 2 of the last 3 years and Warren sits in with Dave for amazing versions of Cortez and Jimi Thing to name a couple. I would think that even though the crowd becomes a bit different, the music that results will be awesome regardless. I hope you can get tickets somehow as I know that this must suck to miss if you are a regular. Yep.......god bless the tapers! Personally, I enjoy what Warren brings to DMB sits-ins (who remembers Dave's jaw drop at Jones Beach earlier this year?)......I think it was the Jones Beach show........youtube it.

Everyone keeps telling me that Dave will be an ok addition to the line-up..its not him I worry about as much...it's his fans!

His fans are beautiful. Let me tell you how I know.

At the end of August Mule fans found out that Gov't Mule was on the late September Farm Aid bill. By the time this information was publicized, there was no chance of getting a decent ticket (I mean really, really close to the stage) with out paying a pretty penny. Well, let's just say I worked hard every day searching the internet boards to get seats that ended up way to the right but still close enough I was able to see the stage. It was worth every hour I spent to get the tickets and every penny, no more or less than 4-5 Allman Brothers shows. But I had to see the band I love for the first time sharing a bill with Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and a number of other acts, one or two more that maybe just tweak the surface of the national consciousness.

Well, Gov't Mule came on 9 into the playbill. All the heavy hitters were still waiting their turn. The entire audience was pretty much sitting on their behinds. There were approximately 12,000 in attendance within the covered area and another 10,000 beyond that. When Gov't Mule came on there were pockets of people throughout the area that I could see standing up moving to the groove, even if it was just a minor sway back and forth to the beat. Later when I thanked the 6-8 people I didn't know around me for making it easier for me to stand for the Mule, I learned they were all Dave Matthews fans.

Over 7,000 tickets to the Christmas Jam have been sold. A lot of Mule, ABB, DMB and other artists fans have somehow been able to get tickets on the 2 days they were sold over the internet and the one day they were sold at the Asheville Civic Center. I know people who were in line from 6 AM, yes, 6 in the morning, the Saturday after Thanksgiving just to make sure they got one. I know I personally reminded people on many internet boards to get on line right away to buy their tickets.

Now, no body wants anyone to be without a ticket for the Christmas Jam. Least of all Warren and Gov't Mule. It's been an ongoing issue every year really because the show always sells out and always someone is left out. The Civic Center just isn't big enough and Warren wants the Jam to be held there cause he digs Asheville. The town is just going to have to build a bigger venue.

Anyway, I posted this before and I will try to help you guys out once again:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There will be a few more pairs of tickets offered through the Mule/Warren's auction (probably the Christmas Jam Auction section). Once that's up, I'll post the info. Here's the link to the site: http://mule.net/friends_of_mule/index.html
There's a guitar being auctioned now for the Firefighter's Fund
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Also, watch the internet boards every day and a few times a day. Including the Dave Matthews Band board at: http://www.antsmarching.org/forum/ You have to become a member in order to access their Ticket Exchange section. Other boards are the Philzone, the Tooboard, emule, the ABB list serve and this web site, Hitting the Web.

You can also use Craig's list. I would search under any North Carolina tickets offered section and NYC's section and search under Warren Haynes, Dave Matthews and Christmas Jam. I am sure tickets will be on ebay and ticket brokers sites.

A lot of regular people also sell on the ticket brokers sites these days, so you don't have to think of them all as scum, or even if you think of them all as scum, you have to deal because you want the ticket (or a good ticket) for the event and you pay what you have to.

Last year's Christmas Jam tickets sold out in 18 days and the year before that they sold out in 21 days (if I remember exactly). It is highly recommended you do not make the trip to Asheville if you don't have a ticket. Sure there are a few extras around on the day, but I wouldn't invest a lot of time or money going there without one. It has never been the usual show as a lot of people all over the country (and the world) go to it. Most people I know made plans and reservations 6 weeks to 2 months ago.

Good luck. Sorry you will have to do some work for your ticket.

yeah it really sucks when a guy works his ass off for years, is nice to his fans and donates large amounts to charity..and has a loyal fan base that buys tickets to his shows and has a friend named Warren Haynes that likes and respects him...Damm Dave Matthews..

If you don't like Hank Williams - Kris Kristofferson

I dig Bobby Dylan and I dig Johnny Cash
And I think Waylon Jennings is a table thumpin' smash
And hearin' Joni Mitchell feels as good as smokin' grass
And if you don't like Hank Williams, honey, you can kiss my ass

Chorus:
'Cause I think what they've done is well worth doin'
And they're doin' it the best way that they can
You're the only one that you are screwin'
When you put down what you don't understand

I said, I dig Roger Miller, Merle Haggard; George Jones
Shotgun Willie Nelson and them rockin' Rollin' Stones
And Jerry Lee's still gotta be the coolest in the class
And if you don't like Hank Williams, honey, you can kiss my ass.

Chorus:
'Cause I think what they've done is well worth doin'
And they're doin' it the best way that they can
You're the only one that you are screwin'
When you put down what you don't understand

I think that sums it up John. Thanks for the words. Never heard them before.

And yes, I did enjoy Dave's solo set at Farm Aid and I am not a big DMB fan, though I don't dislike what they do and have a few favorites from their catalog.

The pre-sale was publicized on the Mule website, I'm not sure why people who are complaining now didn't take the time to buy tickets then.

This isn't directed at any one person who complained about DMB fans taking all the tickets, but if people are going to make comments about the "white hats" showing up, etc, please think about the reason why Warren puts so much time into organizing the event. X-Mas Jam is a benefit for those less fortunate then most of us. I'd much rather have a roof over my head than a ticket to a concert.

i think that DMB is an excellent addition to the Christmas Jam lineup. The DMB is TIGHT.

and i like the DMB crowd, much more so then say, a String Cheese or a Phish crowd.

bringing a national act like the DMB is sure to help raise much more money for the cause. i salute Warren!

and lets not get all nasty and hateful, mmmn k? this is a GOOD THING.

I'm with Linnie - I've seen DMB a couple of times and the band was excellent. And if the money's going for a good cause, well, more $$$ is better that less (would love to see Warren get Dave's jaw dropping)

Did Kristoferson pen that? Or was he covering the version that Hank Jr. did? Only curious caus I am into a lot of Kris, and never heard him do that, but also into a lot of old school Hank, Jr. and have heard him do it. I know Kris has written a ton f sh!t, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if that was another one...just curious. In the Hank version, he shouts out the Brothers...

"Yeah I dig all them Allman Brothers, Merle Haggard & George Jones/
Shotgun Willie Nelson and them Rocking Rollin Stones/
Everything the Eagles do/
I'm in love with Linda Ronstadt/
But if you don't like Hank Williams/
You can kiss our ass..."

Kris Wrote it. Hank is interpreting it his way.
