This year I am thankful that my wife's cancer treatments have gone well and that she is on the mend. A head full of hair is a beautiful thing!

Indeed it is. I'm thankful for mine, and lots of other little things, too. Too many to begin...

I'm thankful that even though he came like a lightning bolt, Osama helped me learn God's name is Allah.

I post some variety of this every year:

I am thankful for the sun, the rain, rivers and trees - especially when they're not on my roof, and for the wind - especially when it doesn't blow trees over onto my roof!

I am thankful for my health and the love of my family and friends. I am thankful for the magic of all of the artists, especially the musicians as their gift seems to have magical and healing powers.

I am thankful for the gift of the late, great Howard Duane Allman, whose eternal magic has brought so many of together on so many wonderful occasions. I am thankful to Lana and Rowland for keeping this amazing site open for all of us to share our joys and occasional pain with one another.

Lastly - actually initially - I am thankful to God for his many blessings.

Peace, love, joy and happiness to everybody in Peachville!

"Rusty"

I'm thankful that I still have a job going on four years in February. Four years in most any other company and you would know they cared about you. All I know is that my company cares nothing about their people and not a lot more about the managers. There are two major factions, the employees and the constantly changing management. I rarely go into the office for this reason. I joined the so called union hoping to level the playing field. The thing is though that the union still has not become a real entity. I signed up but I won't participate because this company is always looking for reasons to let you go, to keep the wages low seems to be a company goal. New drivers start at the low end of the pay scale.

I am also very thankful that my mom is still with me. My mother spent weeks in the hospital earlier this year and was extremely ill. She then went to rehab for about another month. I'm very lucky to still have a living parent. Mom is all I have left.

I'm thankful that I still have a brother. My brother Charlie is five years my junior. He is 38 I think. I turn 44 in January. My half brother asked Charlie to come to Orlando, FL where he works. I hope my brother does not take Rodney up on his offer. I'm not very close to my younger brother and I fear my relationship with him weakening. It probably won't be a long time until Charlie is basically my closest family member.

I am thankful for my cat Boo Boo. Boo Boo, and the multitude of names that I call her was brought home as a stray in 1991. I guess this makes Boo Boo almost 16 years old. Me and the cat spent the entire evening in the lazy boy chair last night. I finished off the evening by watching The Grudge. My poor old cat sat to my left and over my left leg for most of the evening. You know your cat loves you when she is willing to sit in an uncomfortable position for many hours just to be with you and also to be warm. I attribute my cat's long life to her being indoors mostly for the last 5 to 8 years. I decided a good while back that she was too old to be outside. Outside cats are exposed to the elements, cold, rain, heat, germs, bacteria, other animals, lots of creepy crawlies that will kill your pet. The house is a lot hairier and smelly, with periodic flea infestations, but it's a good trade off.

I'm thankful also that I don't have the WRONG WOMAN in my life leading me around by the nose dictating my every move to me. If I ever find love that will be one thing, but the rest of the women can just keep on walking. A lot of guys think a woman is the answer. HA. A woman can be only the beginning of a very deep pit of despair. I know what being lonely, and what being very lonely is all about. I also know what a demanding b1tch is too. Sometimes is is SO GREAT not being loved. Yeah buddy. I do wish a lot though that I had a girl friend. I think I am at the age though to where I have abandoned all of those happy ending with a woman scenarios. I guess it's a blessing for me that I simply don't have a lot to give a female. Women can crush your spirit like a bug. And they look so gooooooooooooooooooooooood sometimes. Is it any wonder we men pay heart and SOUL to have a woman in our lives. I don't think I want to share a bed though. I like having the bed to myself. I also don't want some beotch waking me up until I am ready to be up. But then too you are reading the thoughts of a perennially lonely dude. I guess it could be good too to have a woman around. I'm just extremely thankful that I have never fathered a child to a woman who is not with me now. I'm thankful I haven't been a partner in a divorce. Divorce is so simple these days, and so is abortion. We live in a twisted society.
