All right lets get these rumors out of the way early.I see Clapton has an open date on March 16. I have it on uninformed sources that he would be more than willing to fly in from the other coast to play a couple of numbers with Derek & the Boys

I say send for Beck, Page and Santana and really take the roof off. With special guests Jack Pearson and Jimmy Herring.

Jezz... we're four months from the run and starting this stuff already. Last year it was like - what - every third or fourth post during the run?

Where's that dizzy white-haired chick from years back - "Stop the insanity!"

I was lucky enough to be at Stones show at Shea Stadium in 1989 when Clapton came out on "Little REd Rooster." We were so far away from the stage that we could not see him at first, but we were like "How did ROn or Keef suddenly get so good on guitar?!" and then the video screens picked up CLapton.

He would light up the Beacon. Clapton often plays at the level that his peers push him to, and playing with the ABB would kick his ass into high gear.

I heard Gene Simmons will be there, but that was from an uninformed source.

I caught him on a great night in Charlotte about 6 weeks ago. I think just having Derek and Doyle is plenty to keep him on his toes. His playing that night sure showed it! I didn't expect his to tear into the tunes like he did - but he went all out and was obviously having fun.

Much as I have no expectation of EC showing up for the run, I do harbor a little fantasy that he does make it one night. And plays for more than a song or two. My fantasy reaches it's zenith when he comes to the mike, thanks Duane posthumously for coming up with the greatest handful of notes in electric guitar history, and then he, Derek, and Warren simultaneously rip into the famous Layla coda as they start the song. Hey, a guy can dream, right.......
