Show started at nine. I didnt know what to expect since I've seen reviews go in both directions. Gee it's been 30 years since I last saw Leon ... He's a wonderful sight when he walks out ... like seeing an old friend. I tried getting pictures with my little camera but he just glowed white, lol. The show opened with Delta Lady and had BB Kings rocking with Great Balls of Fire as his last song. There were only two songs I didn't know ... slower love songs but other than that, it was high energy and at some point everyone left the stage except Leon & the guitar player who did an impressive blues piece. Leon didnt get up and leave at the end before the encore ... he said to everyone , "Just make believe I got up and came back." It was so good seeing him.

After the show we hit the bar on the other side where Joe Taino and His Blue Flames had the stage. I've never been in that room before. Really nice atmosphere and Joe Taino was exceptional. His band is playing again Thanksgiving night if anyone can get away after dinner, it's worth the trip into the city to catch them.

BB Kings staff, as always, were great to my children, pictures were being taken, people were dancing like crazy in both rooms ... just a great night all around. I have setlist on my cell phone which is around here somewhere

Thanks for the review. So glad you had a great time! Unfortunately, Leon had an off night the last time I saw him. He's one of my all-time favorites and was fantastic any other time I saw him.

Joe Taino is great, saw him there at BB's a while back and really enjoyed his playing.

Barb, yes I recall reading as much on the board so I was all the more happy for Leon last night. By the end even my 15 year old was happily shaking her backside to music that was written long before I even dreamed of her :-)

Looking forward to Taino on Thursday. he played killer SRV last night. They were ready to take their break but so many people walked in after Leon's show that he did three more songs so the new people could hear some music. Seemed like a nice guy.

Goodness I found my bag containing a very loose setlist in the kitchen cabinet.
In no particular order:
Delta Lady -opening
Roll Away The Stone
Stranger In A Strange Land
Dixie Lulaby
Wild Horses
Back to the Island
Paint It Black
Great Balls of Fire
Popa Was A Rolling Stone
Jumpin Jack Flash
Hard Rain's Gonna Fall
Prince of Peace
Song for You .... and many more stuck in between. Leon was just going in and out of great songs all night faster than I could type on my cell phone

A sweet & humble man

I'm trying to find out if Leon is in the R&R Hall of Fame. Anyone know offhand or where there is an online list of past inductee's? Didnt see it on their site and they say they do not handle suggestions ... Its the R&R HoF Foundation that does this ... with no e-mail address to be had. Sheesh, is it me? They do have an a office apparently- 1290 Ave of the America's, NYC.

I believe, that for awhile, the LEON webpage had an online petition to have LEON as a R&R hall member---the hall ignored it---these folks have short & selective memories..........

Thank you for the information as disturbing as it is. Maybe I'll just boycot the establishment after I let them know what I think of them. *Selective* is definately the keyword ... But the Sex Pistols ? *Sigh*
