My friend in Japan told me about strange but very impressive post on http://www.ectours.de/

You will see this post on guestbook page 2 as follows.

I want to say that seeing EC with Derick & the Dominos was one of the few
highlighted concerts in my many concert going days that I'll never forget. My best
friend bought us tickets and I didn't know who Derick was much less the Dominos. We
had 4th row seats at Keil Auditorum in St. Louis on 11/27/70. When "Derick" came
out on stage I was blown away. Not only that I remember that Duane Allman showed up
as well. I had followed Duane since the Hour Glass Days. And it still does
something to me to think I heard Layla and all the other songs before they came out
on that classic double album. I don't remember much more cause I was only 17 then.
And I was sober and not high. I kept all my concert stubs until MY MOTHER threw out
the history of my rockin' rollin' days.

I have a bootleg copy of this date, Speed Freaks: Mid Valley Records, which is said that from 11/27/'71 Keil Auditorium, but I can't hear any play of Duane.

If the post above is true, there's only way to think that this sound source is from wrong date.
Does anyone has more info about this show?
Did really Duane play at this show?

For your interests, I made a mp3 copy of Layla from this show to following link.
Layla from 11/27/'71??

Are you able to hear Duane play on this tune? I can not......

Or are anyone able to tell me what date this tune comes from?

Any information is appreciated.

I have a double disc of the show in question. Part of the set is from a british concert and consequently no Duane. But he is there on some of the tracks. I will listen when I get home from work.

Cheers

Thanks for posting Masahiko.
I certainly don't hear Duane on the clip you provided, nor do I have any more information on that show, (11/27/70 ) other than that the setlists I find do have DATD playing in that venue on that date, and the ABB was not playing that night, so it's at least possible that Duane was there then; but I don't hear it.

masahiko,

This seems like an entirely new tape they found-live versions of Layla with The Dominos are scarce. If it's a Mid Valley source, I would give them the benefit of the doubt- that they did their homework regarding the date & venue.

As for the post saying Duane showed up for this gig, the poster did mention he showed up, but he didn't say Duane played with the Dominos.

Nick,
Thank you so much for your comment. I never thought like that.......... and that's right.
It might be true for that post but I have some hope yet that Duane played at that night and my copy is wrong date.

Any more info is appreciated.

Eric's people probably have a couple of soundboards with Duane on it. It's in some box somewhere where somebody forgot about it.

Masahiko,

Heard the show today in it's entirety-seems like this is one of those shows where collectors have had in their posession for years, but it was only allowed to be circulated in certain circles.

Pretty cool to know unknown tapes like this exist-it just takes time for it to be circulated. Pretty cool show-but I doubt Duane was there for some reason....
