Oct. 26 @ Berklee Performance Center, Boston: I can't believe Derek went on at 7:30- This is an outrage!!! As someone who has been to many, many shows, I thought it would be safe to show up at 8:30 in time to see Derek. After all, his name was listed first on the ticket, and as far as I can tell, he was supposed to be the headlining act. Apparently I was wrong- I missed Derek's entire set. Am I the only one who thought Derek was going to be headlining this show?

I had a feeling susan would be headlining this date since it was really her gig... and being that she's a berklee alumuni...

almost all shows at the fancier venues start close to the time on the ticket... I'd be uipset if I miss Derek... but Susan wailed last night too...

Peace
Ross

First D-Ride - I'm sorry that you missed Trucks and you definitely have my sympathies. I, too, was surprised when Trucks came out first, but I got there at 7:30 just in case
(and also b/c I wanted to hear Tedeschi). Hard as it is to believe, up until the last year or so, Tedeschi might have actually had a higher profile than Trucks. I know that she has been quite popular in the Boston area for about 10 years now (being that she is a local gal etc.). In Allman Brothers circles, obviously Trucks would have the higher profile and I suspect he has probably now passed Tedeschi by a bit due, in part, to the recognition he has received playing with Clapton. I hope that you at least enjoyed Tedeschi as much as I did. I must admit, for some reason, she had escaped my awareness even though I knew her by reputation. But I was quite favorably impressed and will be on the look out for her.

Again, I wish that there might have been some pre-show indications that they might be alternating opening and closing slots so this wouldn't have happened to you b/c I know that sucks. Back in the mid-80's, I saw B.B. King at the Opera House. It said B.B. King on the ticket. I read in the paper that Natalie Cole was opening for him, so I thought "cool, I'll get there early and hear Natalie Cole's set." Well, thank God I did, because for reasons which still elude me, B.B. King came out first to a half empty auditorium and only played for about 45 minutes. Half the crowd, left after B.B. King (including myself) and not out any malice towards Natiale Cole, who I'm sure is a terrific performer, but that wasn't what we all signed up for. So, again, I feel your pain; sorry this happened to you.

Shame on you for discounting Susan Tedeschi. These performances are very special and it would be nice for fans to support both acts. During the summer, when Derek opened for the Allmans, the venues I was at were largely empty- to me that was an outrage.

Wedensday, at Princeton, the house was full for Susan as the opener, and I would guess that it was the same at Berklee, whether or not anyone knew Derek would open for Susan.

Sorry to hear about that, but what absnj said, you shouldve at least tried to attend on time to see the whole act. I knew that they would switch it up with opening acts but it's sad that you came late. Susan is great and I am very excited to see both on Saturday

She was amazing, the last song she belted like Janis Joplin! Her guitar solos were killer too!

Her guitar solos were the best I've ever heard from her. Last Oct I saw her at the Orpheum and her solos were good but not like last night. Over the top!

You guys are right, it's my own fault for showing up late. However, I was there to see Trucks, not Tedeschi, and had to take care of a few things before the show. It may be a shame that I wasn't planning on seeing Susan Tedeschi, but the fact is that I'm a Derek fan, first and foremost.
On the positive side, Susan Tedeschi did sound great- she's got an amazing set of pipes. I just feel that it should have been a Derek Trucks headlined show, since the tickets were sold as Dereck Trucks, and the presale was on Derek's website, not Susan's. I know I'm not the only one who feels a bit mislead, as there are a few others posted on Derek's site that also missed his set.

Don't worry the show will be in circulation. Then put it on your ipod and sit in the theatre. It will be like you were there!

IMO, Janis couldn't sing as beautifully as Susan on her best day

I thought the very same thing that Susan sounded like Janis Joplin man did she belt out those last few numbers. Ross told me how amazing Susan was as the show started boy do I agree.

But I feel really sorry for someone that showed up at 8:30 and missed Dereks opening performance it was one for the ages But at least you got to see Derek play a few numbers with Susan.

I thought Sue was going to be late but right on the button at 7:30 she was in her seat.
