VERY COOL!!! Angela, I tell ya, that night at the Belly Up was pretty darn magical for me being there in front of Andy! Remember me telling you there was something going on?!! Well I am sincerely hooked on Andy very much even more so now after that performance. Thanks for starting this very deserving thread!

BTW, I heard you singing during "Soulshine" and girl, you've got some great vocals!! Have you ever done anything with that? Or are you just having fun?

Nope.

Yeah I love Andy. His playing is spot on and sublime. I love that he's recorded with Joan Osborne and Shawn Covin, two of my favorite female artists. Also Tina Turner. I didn't even know that he had a gig with her. Nice.

According to allmusic.com, Andy appeared on a 1999 album by (gasp) Britney Spears!!!

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&searchlink=ANDY|HESS&sql=11:wnfyxq t5ldke~T4

Maybe Britney will return the favor by coming out and jamming with the Mule sometime?? One can only hope...

Great post. Last year in Telluride Joan Osbourne "borrowed" Andy for her set. I am a huge mule fan and when he got up on stage it was just awesome. Joan recalled how Andy used to play with her band "before he was a big star" in Gov't Mule. They had a lot of fun with it and her set was just amazing. I was listening to the instant live before going to Telluride last week. Anyway, thought I would contribute a cool Andy story here.

Thanks, that is a great story! Was that the Telluride Blues Fest? I want to make it to that one year. Every trip to Colorado I venture in a different direction! Beautiful place!

Susea,

Indeed this was the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. I just got back from another one last weekend. It is held every year around the 13-15 or so of September. Telluride is one of the most majestic places I have been and why I continue to go. My now wife and I got together there 8 years ago. The lineup is amazing every year and the crowd is awesome. Some of the bands who have performed are:

Allman brothers
Gov't Mule- 2 times
Derek Trucks Band
Susan tedischi
James brown
P-funk
Tinsley Ellis
Joan Osbourne
Bruce Horsby
The Radiatiors
Dr John
BB King
Stockholm Syndrome
Voice of the Wetlands All Stars/Tab Benoit
Sunny Landreth
Rose Hill Drive
Kenny Wayne Shepard
Jonny Lang
Blind Boys of Alabama
Robert Randolph
Mofro
North Mississippii All Stars

WHEWWWWWW........as you can see they never fail to bring incredible music to this little mountain town. I highly recommend attending if you get the chance. It is my favorite festival.

anyway......www.tellurideblues.com is the website if you want to check it out.

well we were up front and personal so . . . locking of the eyes is a usual thing. I think Andy has a girl friend. He had one last year at the Beacon who I had seen a few times before. She is very pretty. As you are too.

It's not uncommon for the guys to connect visually with fans in such a small venue. It's rather nice and one of the reasons I like shows in places like the Belly-up.

Yes, I love the small venues. I wasn't really going anywhere with that statement except to say it was a truly nice experience. Wouldn't be surprised if a nice woman grabbed him up!!

Didn't mean to imply YOU were going anywhere with that. Just thought I would mention that about his girlfriend cause he isn't married. Or at least I don't think so cause he doesn't wear a ring. And he is very cute. If I were thinner, taller and prettier, like you, I would think of flirting for sure.

Anyway, if I were on stage I would definitely go for the tall, pretty, sane looking women (men). That's for sure. Or even the short pretty sane looking ones. LOL.

You got a great point though! Hmmmmmm, no ring? Well now!! LOL! Next up close and personal show I'm at the front!! LOL! The Palladium! Perhaps I should go to Lupo's too! Afterall, it's all fun and sane fun at that! LOL!

Thanks Sue. It is sane fun as long as you don't get stoned drunk and ossified, which I don't and you don't so I say, go for it. If you can do it, do it cause soon enough things change.
