We need our version of Monopoly

Allmanopoly

Now that would improve the boring version of Monopoly.

Pass Beacon Collect 200 Peaches
Go to the Studio
Get out of the Studio Free

Beacon Place
Wanee Street
Bonnaroo Blvd
Red Rocks Avenue
Peach Turnpike
Mushroom Highway
Rose Hill Cemetary
The Big House
H&H Restaurant
New York, Macon, Muscle Shoals, Jacksonville Railroads

The game pieces could be the band members

Houses could be festival tents
Hotels could be Beacon Hotels

Help me out here......................................

We have a cookbook now how about a game. Proceeds could help Rose Hill too.......

Don't forget the Fillmore.

To be honest, I think it is silly how many versions of Monopoly there are right now. After all the licencing and production costs, not sure how much of a fund raiser it would be. Unless you charged a rather large sum. Seems like all these strange version of Monopoly sell for about $30-$45 which already seems rather steep to me as is.

Neat idea.

I'd recommend ordering the properties roughly chronologically, with the low-end properties being the very early famous shows/venues like the Jacksonville Jam, the Warehouse, SUNY, then moving on to the Fillmore, Cow Palace, etc. The Beacon and Wanee should be your Boardwalk and Park Place. With other major venues coming just before them (the green and yellow sections), such as the Fox Theater, Red Rocks, Jones Beach.

Four the railroads, I'd suggest the major side projects (or main projects, depending on your point of view) - Derek and the Dominoes, Sea Level, Mule, DTB, would be a few.

For the two utilities . . . hmmm . . . have to choose a couple of major landmarks - AFE going gold or platinum, R&R Hall of Fame, Grammy Award, Dreams Box set . . . maybe.

For your chance and community chest cards, you can have things like, "receive magic stamps," advance two spaces, "get a freebie," earn five peaches, or "you've miracled somebody a ticket, advance to go and collect 200 peaches."

Scalping tickets or selling traded shows on ebay should land your a$$ in jail.

I'm not sure I would equate the studio with jail, but I've never been in a recording studio, so perhaps I'm wrong and you've hit the nail right on the head.

You may be correct, but I sure would buy one. Fund raiser or no fund raiser. It would be
cool to have a ABB version. many corporations have there on versions.

As long as we're talking about licensed products, I'm still waiting for my "Eat a Peach," or "Allman(d) Brothers Crunch" ice cream from Ben & Jerry's.

BUT, before people start taking about what a cool idea this is and what steps should be taken to make it happen - someone had the idea long before I did, and apparently it was seriously considered and the idea advanced to the top-level of decision makers. I don't recall (actually I don't think I ever knew) why it never happened, but the idea was never realized.

I like Cherry Garcia and tried the Phish Food, and I think the Dave Mathews Band has had two flavors.

I think you should hire TD as a consultant. He seems to have already thought this through or is brainstorming like crazy. Great ideas.

Stole a Vine - Go directly to jail.

Recorded and traded TAO version - Offer three free shows.

Instead of houses and hotels, you could have Gold and Platinim discs.

Hey, thanks! I haven't really thought it out in advance, but we play a lot of Monopoly and Life at my house, and while I've never purchased a novelty version (Chicago, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Simpsons, the U of I [alma mater], etc.), I always make a point of examining the boards (there's usually a picture on the back of the box) whevever I see a new one in the stores. You get a feel for the progression of properties, and how the standard rules and play are adapted to the different locations or scenarios.

I'd be happy to contribute ideas - but don't have time to do the practical work (as BigAnn did with the cookbook) - if anyone wants to pick this up and run with it.

Steal a vine, get ran over by a mad Floridian on a bicycle.

Fun idea, rottinpeach, and some good suggestions, guys. rottin, did you get the idea from that "Define 'Allman' " thread that has just come back to life?

Just a month ago I gave my brother's kids something I found at a neighborhood yard sale: Pokémon Monopoly. I still can't believe it wasn't called Pokémonolopoly! [< Nice typo. ] Actually, I can believe it. What I can't believe is that it wasn't called Pokémonopoly or PokéMonopoly.

quote:
New York, Macon, Muscle Shoals, Jacksonville Railroads
This is a cool parallel to the original Monopoly. I was going to Google a bunch of 1960s-70s railroad maps and find the names of the actual RR lines going through those towns. I believe that since the original Monopoly is based on actual streets etc. in Atlantic City, New Jersey, those four RR (Reading, Pennsylvania, the infamous B. & O. [with all due respect to a certain bassist], and Short Line) in fact came into depots there. So, what were the old passenger lines that used to connect Macon and Atlanta or Daytona and Jacksonville?

Seeing this idea of Droogie's saved me from endless Googling of railroads, since this is a different approach. I like it (and appreciate the time saving), but then I got thinking back to the literal transportation angle:
Since the band did not travel by train, we could use the modes of transportation they actually took from town to town and coast to coast.

* station wagon (If a proper name is needed, say Ford.)
* Winnebago
http://www.winnebagoind.com/
* tour bus (Motor Coach Industries, e.g.)
http://www.mcicoach.net/newcoaches/coachfinderresults2.htm
* chartered jet (Boeing; sorry, but I couldn't find a mid-'70s pic of the over-the-top Allman Brothers using a jet.)

Yes Peternelson, I posted it on the Define thread first and thought it needed its on thread. I have remodeling my house, and cleaning out the closets are a must. I use to
work for McKee Foods a few years back. They are the makers of Little Debbie Snacks.
Out of the closet came the Lil Debbie version of Monopoly and when I got on here this morning it came to mine......I agree there are a kazillion versions, but not one for us....

Those two exactly simultaneous postings prove that Eric and I are different, too!

rottinpeach, I just looked at the most recent brainstorming on the "Definition of 'Allman' " thread and saw you've been active there recently!
Lil Debbie Monopoly > "Little Martha" > Allmanopoly

Suggestions for Allmanopoly:

Instead of Free Parking - Beacon Rate = $50.00 per day (or something)
Tokens: Tour Bus, Harley Davidson, Les Paul and Jazz Bass ... maybe a jello shooter
Hotels - Beacon, Georgian Terrace, Wanee Campground (Helen's Hilton!)

and by all means - KEEP THE GET OUT OF JAIL CARD!!! Those suckers come in handy 'round Beacon time!

The reason I don't like monopoly is it takes forever to play, I guess I just have a short attention span...that or I never have wanted to be a property mogul...but if the game were focused around The Allman Brothers is just might keep me more entertained than the orignal version.

You would need to include the Watkins Glen Jam with the Grateful Dead and The Band. The single largest US concert to date.

Ummmm takes along time to play. Sounds like The ABB's and Allmanopoly to me.
What is nice about all this live material floating around is. I can drive 5 hours to our
beach house and its takes 2 instant live shows. What a way to make the time go by...
