I'm moving there in about 3 weeks. Are there some areas that I would absolutely NOT want to live in? Can you recommend a good neighborhood/city/area to live in? Any heady bars or restaurants? Any good music in or around there?

(okay I know that last one could be a bit of a stretch)

ANY help, comments, or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks, JP

Not sure about where to live or not live, but the music scene is much more favorable up the road in Austin. Food is good in SA, though;<))

If you're into history at all or seeing the sights of San Antone, check out the River Walk or the Mission Trail. There are several places there where you can find good music, depending on what you like of course. There's a place (can't recall the name right now) that used to be an old cattle trading/buying/selling house that's been turned into a very large (several acres) night spot that has different kinds of music each night. I don't know if it's still there, but if it is, you can't miss it and you might want to check it out. Plus there are other small restraunt/bars that have live local acts.

If I can find or recall the name of the old cattle place, I'll edit and put the name in.

Can't seem to find the name of that place, maybe it's gone now, but there is a place that claims to be "The largest entertainment complex in Texas featuring live national country and western recording artists, live pro rodeo, mechanical bull, dancing and food" so maybe that took it's place. The name of the spot is Far West Rodeo. They have other music as well, not just country AND western. LOL.

Thanks; that's what I hear.

Actually, I was born and raised in Austin (TX Fight!), went to University of North Texas, and did a 3 year stint here in ATL.

So who's ST?

Any other suggestions or comments, brothers and sisters?

I know it well. Spent ~6 years in Denton. I will. Perhaps I'll see you here in ATL this weekend....
