Sorry Jimmy R. don't believe Jimmy H. is with them yet. He is still touring with Herring, Sipe and Rodgers.

Herring Sipe and Rodger are in Falls Church Saturday. I'm probably going.

THe announcement is that Jimmy joins panic on the fall tour starting Sept. 14.

i've seen panic on ACL and heard a few shows here and there... but i don't own any albums and i'm far from familiar with their material. i know the band members and the basic story, but i just don't know the music at all. now that my favorite guitarist has joined the band, i guess it's time to hit the music store and discover me some panic. just wondering -- where should i begin?

I would suggest the Oak Mountain DVD. One of my favorites.

If this is true, it's probably the most depressing music news I've heard since Woody's passing. That's no joke.

Am I the only person who dislikes Panic? I am a musician, I've seen a couple hundred live shows, I own tons of albums, and I would have to say Widespread Panic is one of my least favorite bands (Dave Schools is their only redeeming factor). They do absolutely nothing for me. I even went so far as to skip Panic at Bonnaroo in '03 despite the fact that they were the only band playing at that time.

I would love to see Jimmy do his own thing and play in an original band, but I geuss you've got to do what you've got to do some times. I was looking forward to seeing where Herring/Rodgers/Sipe would go. I'm so bummed out I can barely type.

I dig Panic

and I dig Jimmy

Jimmy wants to do this gig, so why can't you get behind it???

He'll still have time to do side projects like Project Z, and he wants to continue with
Bobby Lee.

It's all good

John, I tend to agree with Hotfoot. I love Dave Schools. How I wish he would have joined the Mule! Jo Jo and Junior are OK. But Todd Nance and John Bell are as much ado about nothing as I've seen in a looooooooog time. However, those nice paychecks Jimmy was pulling down with the ABB, PL&F and the Dead become more addictive than crack. I'm not a Panic fan but I assume they are getting as close to lucrative as Phish (yet another Jam Band I'm not too fond of.) So maybe Jimmy will be able to continue to do ARU, H/S/R, Project Z, etc. because he doesn't have to worry about the light bill. Jimmy makes anything better so who knows ........ no need to PANIC!!! Pun intended.

I absolutely LOVE Jimmy! He is so underated and he is so humble to boot. I know he LOVED playing with Col. Bruce and The Codetalkers. He told us! He LOVED IT!!
He is such a GOOD musician. He certainly deserves a permanent spot with some band, any band, just as long as he's playing!!!!

I wish he would have joined them instead. That would have made me a happy camper!

Really?

I mean, it doesn't bother me if I'm the only person that feels that way. As long as new people are getting exposed to Jimmy Herring, I guess it's got to be a good thing. BUT I am selfish and would love to see Jimmy Herring in a different setting.

I can't imagine there are too many people in the jam band world who would say Panic is one of their least favorite bands and would intentionally walk away from their performance at a festival. Nothing wrong with it but I would be surprised if there are too many others around here who agree. To eachhis own.

Doug

Wow just saw three panic shows in a week and I gotta tell you Jimmy is amazing. He is probably up there with Derek Trucks for best touring guitar player.

I'm really excited to see them Friday on Charlotte. A couple of firsts for me: first Panic show and first time seeing Jimmy live. I've listened to the streams of this tour on panicstream and they are smoking. The "Diner" on 9/20 is ridiculous.
