It looks like a Gibson ES-355 being played by an African American. Face is not shown. I would guess Freddie King, Chuck Berry or BB King.

Most folks have probably already seen this. Click on the link to see Whipping Post live at the Filmore in 1970.

How did you come across this footage? And that would mean theres 2 videos of DSW, this one, and part of a clip that I had first downloaded on slidejules old website, although it wasn't nearly as clear as this one.

Anyway, I think this is from 5/2/71. I'm going to rule out Thom Doucette being there as proof because he was probably in the NY area around then anyway, but first the overal tone of the audio is distinctly similiar to my boot of 5/2. 2nd, Duane's slide solo sounds very similar to the one from 5/2, the lick he plays as the footage cuts out- I remember it from 5/2.

Interesting thought. I had also wondered why there is footage, but no audio tape of 05/01/71 UNC. But, at least judging from my version of CCNY 05/02/71, they are not the same show. Listen to the slide fill after the first line of the vocal in the first verse in each.

No, it is indeed from 5.1.71! as part of a weekend festival at UNC Chapel Hill. I know people that were there. http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php

The master tape includes the other acts as well, plus the credits say it's from 5.1.71, as a school project!
