I own the 4-CD boxed set. Great stuff. I remember watching it the first time ( i.e. not in reruns). 58 shows... ____________________ "There's only two kinds of music...The Blues and Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah"- Townes Van Zandt

I'm a Monkees fan and for some reason I'm surprised to see anyone bring that up here... I have both DVD sets. When I was younger I liked the 2nd season a lot more (way more out there and outrageously silly, half that season has no laugh track too, which is cool) but in hindsight the first season is probably a little bit more likeable.

Actually they did play their instruments ... ocasionally. Here's a link for Monkees albums. Click on each title and you'll get a roster of the musicians that appeared on each. The "pre-fab four" played (at least some) on most of the albums. Toward the end of their existance they played more and more.

Several years back when they did the first "reunion" tour, I actually had Mickey Dolenz come in on a gig I was playing and he sat in on the drums.
Great guy and a hysterically funny cat to boot.

Not a fan of the Monkees LOL
But particularly not a fan of Mickey Dolenz.
Our little town here has done a Summer Concert Series for the past several years.
The Jungle Boy was here two years ago. Of all the invited guests before or since, he was the the most obnoxious, self-important, difiicult of all the performers we've ever had. |

Wow. . . . .
My experience with him was a good one, but obviously things have changed a bit since my path first crossed with his. ____________________
