Gregg Allman & Friends will headline the Sarasota Blues Fest October 28.

Thanks to Chicagofan for giving the "Low Down" on this one. I'm going to plan on this for sure. Anyone else thinking about checking this out?

Well, I suspect that is going to coincide with Jam For Duane, so I guess we shouldn't count on Gregg making an appearance. Bummer

Can't speak directly to the specifics of this show.....October is a long way off and I'm up here in the Buckeye state.....HOWEVER! We saw GAF w/Robben Ford last year (1/'05) in Cleveland at the HOB. FRICKIN" INCREDIBLE! Robben Ford is one of the hottest guitar players around and some of the stuff he was doin' to Brother Gregg's classic solo stuff was amazing. .....also saw his set with the ABB at the Beacon in March.....killer stuff. A few of the 'fold' don't get his style...he's more of a finesse player but once he gets cranking....let's her rip. I would recommend this show to anyone. Hope that the remainder of Gregg's band also features the players that were out with him last year....Willie Weeks,Neil Larsen, et.al. These cats were 3 notches above the guys Gregg has been playin' with the last few years save for Buzzy Feiten perhaps. Hope this is not just a single show.....and a tour makes it up North. Come to think of it, Florida sounds good about the end of October!

Willie Weeks is on tour with Eric Clapton and it looks like they will be in the US in the fall.

I've been hoping that Gregg's next set of "freinds" would be the CRS!

Yes, I know. The list of musicians for Gregg's band have been this line up. But where he took the year off and Willie is with Clapton who knows who Gregg will have on Bass. But I'm sure it'll be great!

October 28th is one day before the anniversary of Duane's ascension. I'm not going to say death anymore because while he left this plane, he's on another one on higher ground, and I think this will be a very memorable show with blues sailing up to the heavens in tribute and in love.

Susie, my husband is gonna need some real talking into this one but I'll try to pull it off. Love this Bluesfest though don't know about the new digs. Flew from Chicago once before when my friend Walter Smith opened up the festival. Maybe I can catch one of those $59 air fares and we can share a place. I think in the plast the Hampton Inn has had some packages with good hotel rates and tickets to the festival. I even thing they paid for our taxi to and from the airport.

That's interesting. My family has a place in Naples about 45 min to an hour drive. I was thinking of a Fri - Mon. But if you come up with this package thing? Let me know. Otherwise I can accomodate some people at my place. BTW the tickets are short money to the Festival. $19 in advance, $25 day of show.

Naples is a ways. May want to stay local the day of the festival. After, the musicians usually head to the Gator Club to play some more (there's a curfew on the fest. They were in court for some years over some folks making waves about the noise. I think they can't play longer than 10 pm ). However, Gator club could go into the wee hours. Kinda like BB Kings after the Beacon. Lots of time to plan before October. Maybe my credit card will stop smoking before. LOL.

Too funny girl. I like the way you think. There's a lot of truth to what you are saying. I know the Festival is from noon till 9:30PM. If things are happening at that club, then staying local would be wise. But I would still plan on my place for the long weekend.

I hear Naples is really nice. There is a clam stand in Dania I try to hit when I'm in the area. Wonder what the record for miles is on a rental car in Florida for the weekend? Oh, wait. I think I may hold it. We did a lot of driving for a Daytona show a few years back.

Naples is beautiful been going down since 1984. It's a bit overpopulated now a days but not during off season. A good friend of mine has a band down there so I drop in on that when I can. I actually met him out at Red Rocks in 2003. Friend for life. You know how that goes.

I've driven all over that State. Love the West Coast mostly.

Last time I talked with Floyd he told me they were going out in Oct. He said he was going to talk to Gregg about coming father midwest this year.

I'm a huge Robben Ford fan, and it's great to see him getting some props here. I've only been watching him live since he used to play at a club in Santa Monica (L.A.) in the early 80's. Can't count the number of times I've heard him play now. He only gets better.

"Robben Ford is one of the hottest guitar players around and some of the stuff he was doin' to Brother Gregg's classic solo stuff was amazing." I here you, DanaVClouser, and welcome to the site.

Gregg Allman ++++ Robben Ford ===== A Marriage Made in Heaven. If I don't see any West Coast dates, I just may have to fly out to the Sarasota Blues Festival.

Thanks for the 'welcome' Rob.....altho' as "Mr. Obvious" on "The Bob & Tom Radio Show" always says...."Longtime listener, first time caller".....don't know if B & T is syndicated your way or not.....ANYWAY......!!!......RE; GAF w/Robben Ford Cleveland show last year.....the band would take off into a tune and it came 'lead time' and Robben would start to cut loose. On TWO or THREE occasions....Gregg would be lookin' over at him and all of a sudden almost 'startle' at what he was hearing and then lay his head back and just start laughing! It was for one thing hysterical and at the same time so cool to see everybody in the band gettin' off on it. That lineup had CHEMISTRY!!! Robben was doin' some stuff to Midnight RIder and Multi-Colored lady which come to mind....that sounded like a damn pedal steel--no slide--just finger-pickin' it--AND he was Les Paulin' it too....which I took as a respectful jesture by the way....he usually plays Fenders (tele)

Gregg sure does love to play with his "Friends". He always seems so happy on these tours.
