if i get anything i got to order it. all we got where i live is a walmart. it's called a dump store cause the other stores send what they can't sell to this one. i have not been in one yet that's got a blues section. they got r&b but no blues. was in newnan last weekend to see TINSLEY ELLIS, went to the store there, they had one little line of cd's probably didn't amount to 20 and i either didn't want em or already had em. what is wrong with these people, they don't got blues in the stores and they don't play it on mainstream radio. you gotta get sirius or xm to hear it, and one of them radios is worth more than my truck is! everywhere i go i look for some blues and come up emptier than my head.

Yeah, but I think it is a country song.

it'd be my luck if i did inspire a song, it'd be country!!

I never buy music from Circuit City, Best Buy, or Wal-Mart or any of the other Brittney Spears outlets. I always order from Amazon.com or HTN. Order on a Thursday, usually at my door on Monday. Order enough so I don't have to pay for S&H( Amazon.com).

Me: Excuse me sir, do you carry Jimmy Smith's "The Sermon"?
Them: Yo! Wasn't he great in 'Men in Black'!
Me: How about Rory Gallagher?
Them: Watermelon man made an album? Man, he's talented.

I went to Evil Walmart today to look for Mule. They didn't have any, so I got lace panties and camo pants instead.

The Blues Brothers never got their message across to middle America. But try Half.com, where you can get both new and used CD's a lot cheaper than in the store (you wouldn't put tinsley in the clearance bin, so why should Walmart?). Right now they have a bunch, here's a link:

http://search.half.ebay.com/tinsley-ellis_W0QQmZmusic

Plus if you have a good looking mailman, you and he can get together and listen to some good tunes.

Man, I didn't need to read that. It's lonely here in the office.

You got pics?

Lol just teasing...

No pics, but I got a lot of good stuff! I got Nair and new flip flops, too (I wore out my good pair at Wanee!) I only go to Evil Walmart about twice a year and I always call it that; I hate the place. I order all my music online mostly.

Guess I'm fortunate to have both a Borders and Barnes and Nobles around me, what they don't have they'll order for me. Of course, they're both bookstores, and generally cater to more "educated" consumer. Bottom line, don't go to the "dumbed down" places like Circuit City, Best Buys and Walmart and expect of find something beyond the Top 40.

I'll have you know I haven't shaved since Wanee! I need some help!

Ahem, but back to the music...I'm lucky that we have a "record store" that's been around for over 20 years, run by the same brothers. My first husband used to work there. Good people and can always turn me onto to something good I haven't heard before. I often see them at shows I go to. One of them lines up the music for the local annual blue crab fest Memorial Day weekend. This year they've got Tinsley Ellis, Kenny Neal and Tishamingo, among others...

I've been lucky enough to find a lot of great blues CDs in Borders. Anything that I can't find in Borders I just usually end up having to order it from Amazon.

Yeah Borders or Barnes and Noble (I like B&N better, plus I have a membership card there now - for $25 you get 10% off all purchases for a year) have the best blues collections I've seen in any store.

The 'music industry' doesn't give a *** about the blues cuz it's all based around MTV videos, American Idol, Ipod downloads, and whatever other BS they think the teenagers ( most disposible income ) will allow having jammed down their throats- old style country music has a better chance of getting on the shelf at WalMart than Muddy Waters. The record buying public isn't educated to view wrinkly old black people as interesting- check out Britney Spears sales vs BB King. Who
's the absolute biggest 'blues' musician alive today? Eric Clapton maybe? When was the last time you saw one of his CD's featured at a big chain outlet? I think the best way to get a current blues artists CD is to go to their show and buy it off the table in the lobby or where ever...
