friends,

we're working on booking the dtb again this year to benefit special olympics nj. to promote the show and raise additional funds for the organization, i want to hold two ebay auctions:

1 - bid on a jam session with the dtb during their sound check. you'd get to play on one pre-determined song (so that you can practice). you'd also get two nice seats to the show.

2. bid on being one of the opening acts. you'd get a 20 minute set to open up for the band.

what do you guys think? good idea or a little bit silly. and how much would you bid or do you think bidding would go for?

thanks!

sully

I think it sounds like a great idea Sully...

Amazing idea hahaha. Now, do you get to do a full length song, ie Pedro being like 10 minutes or so?

soundcheck jam?- Maybe if the band would be into it.

opening slot- IMO, NOT a good idea. Lots of folks out there who really think they can play, cannot play. With an auction situation, its a total crap shoot. A really **** ty auction-winning band could be an embarrassment to themselves and all parties involved.

Just my .02.

I like the ideas Sully, maybe there should be a caveat that the opening act be an established band of some sort. How about a third auction with the winner getting to introduce the band?

As far as the sit-in idea goes... hmm. I know what my worldly posessions and life's savings are worth. I'll go get my leg appraised and tell you what I've got to offer.

thanks for the input. let's see if i'm getting hte feedback right:

1 - sit in with the band during the sound check (not during the show!!!):
good idea and will generate some money or body parts in marley's case:

2 - open for the band: maybe not such a hot idea.

3: announce the band: new idea and i think we have a taker with ozziepie.

are you ready for the real thing, state theatre?! back where they belong, the Derek Trucks Band!

Hey Sully,
Bring'em back to the State Theatre! Tuesday night, same vibe, same time of year. I will be there and I guarantee a bigger crowd this time. Those pit seats still available for the diehards?? That was one AMAZING night!!

-Also, since Derek is probably touring the states with Clapton this Fall, how hard is your booking task going to be?

booking is extremely tough this year. there are only a few dates available and many offers that have been received by their booking agency. so, we're about 90% there, but it could all fall apart just as easily.

it will be late october on a wednesday night if it happens, and the gold circle seats will be sold directly to our friends here and at derektrucks.com.

there will be an interesting co-headliner this year, too. can't give it away yet.

hope all can come and as soon as our offer is accepted or declined, i'll info.

Wait a couple of weeks, then call Clapton- I bet he'll bid on all three options.
