I can't make heads nor tails outta their website. What all do I have to get to get started? Do you have it at home or in the car or on the computer? Is it worth it?

If you have not purchased the unit yet I would sugeest getting the 3 day trial of XM and then Sirius .

Sirius has a jam band station (Sirius 17) that is wonderful . Warren's wife has a show on 1pm till 7pm EST daily . There is a lot of Sirius only stuff too - bands playing in studio , interviews , etc .

I think Sirius is a better choice if you are into the whole improv jamming type of thing .

I have had them both. Sirius is much better as far as music. I have it in my home and car. I havent listened to regular radio in 2 years!

I got sirius (when stern moved there), love the music channels
esp the jam band channel. Most of the music channels you can stream as well.
Only drawback for me was the sirius does not have MLB, but that's
only $15 for the whole season on the web anyway.

Yep I have Sirius at home and in the car and its so friggin' good. I signed up on-line with both receivers and was activated in like 2 minutes. Its easy.

Sirius has the NFL, and will have NASCAR in '07 as well...

In general, I think satellite radio is an excellent choice. I do agree to maybe check them both out before you decide. I have had XM for 3 years and I am totally happy with it. Though I wouldn't mind switching to get Howard, plus the jam band channel I have heard about here sounds awesome. Their website should be pretty easy to deal with - I know there is a lot of stuff going on at their home page, but just take a slow, close look, and you'll find where to start. The 3-day thing on the internet is a great idea to check out which one you want.

Well, it has to be XM because of Dylan's show. That's what pushed me over the edge. I just can't figure out how much extra equipment I have to buy to get it, whether it's more or less to get it at home or on the PC or in the car...etc. Their website is heavy on the graphics and takes a long time for me to navigate on my dial-up connection. I got impatient with it in a hurry. But thanks for all the advice!

rlrichie it sounds like bad advice but don't get it because of a specific show(dylAN) i've had sirius since november and the special shows turnover so quickly and you never know how long they will last.there was actually a springsteen channel that coincidentally came out w/ the 25th anniversary of born to run its came and went already. personally i got sirius and think it is tremendous. one of my buying points was bill waltons "one more sat nite" the show is on "hiatus" kelley slater also had a show that i can no longer find. the thing is there are always other shows i am discovering by channel surfing.i can't say enough great things about sirius and highly recommend it. more great music than i can handle.

Oh, I'm not just getting it because of Dylan. I had access to something like it at work a few years ago, and I was constantly discovering new music. But I had an office and a set-up where I could listen to music for a few hours a day by myself. Now, I never listen to the radio, and am not sure how much I would use XM radio at home. It would be most valuable on my commute, but I don't want to have to go out to the truck at night to listen to Dylan once a week!

Both sat. radio services sell a unit that you can use both at home AND in the car or office. I would just go to a local electronics store - not for installation mind you, just to see the stuff and buy it there. the car kit that came with my XM, I was able to install it myself.

Get either one but get one. The attenna on my car broke and I have yet to get it fixed cause all I listen to is Sirius. I was all over the map when I got it but once I learned the channels I made a plan. When I have a drive of 30 or more minutes I pick one channel and stick with it. Might be Classic Soul, 70's channel, Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind. Last night after seeing Galactic I listened to Jam-On on the way home. Plenty of talk, sports and now the playboy channel. I also listen to Stern in the morning and if you miss part of his show that replay it 3 times a day. Stern has a second channel with Bubba the Love Sponge in the afternoon and just recently Scott Ferrell at night.

Any way I'm sure XM is good too but I prefer Sirius. I believe Dylan's show is only 1 hour a week and oh yea XM will soon have the Oprah channel.

Oh yea I got XM for Christmas but never could get a good signal. Tried all the radio frequencies you could use. So I took it back and got a Sirius radio. Guess it depends on where you are but my reception, in the Atlanta area, is great on Sirius.

I have and love sirius... but I've heard nothing but good things about XM as well... there is a thread we try to p[opulate here with satelite radio content (upcoming that is)... hmmmm,

http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=v iewthread&tid=30299#pid993837

you can probably scroll back through these two pages and see at least a few items from both XM and Sirius...

I hope you get one, they are well worth it...
