I'm sure this has been done a great deal on here, but I can't find the thread that talks about it, so here it goes - what is everyone's top 10 list? Mine would go a little something like this

1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Derek Trucks
3. Stevie Ray Vaughan
4. Duane Allman
5. Eric Clapton
6. Robert Johnson
7. B.B. King
8. Jimmy Page
9. Warren Haynes
10. Jerry Garcia

Yeah, it's probably a terrible list, but I'm not that musically cultured - I'm only 16 and doing the best I can

Actually its a pretty good list-I would agree with Jimi at #1 but would have to rank Duane ahead of Derek-for now.

For a 16 year old you have very good taste. My question is how the hell can you afford to go to so many Beacon shows?

I'm wth brofan on switching Duane and Derek, although time may alter that.

Although very different from the type of players on your list, I'd find some room for David Gilmour. Perhaps not for technical ability, but certainly his Floyd work has stood up very well. He's got great melodic style even if he doesn't quite have the chops of some on your list.

And coincidentally; I get a chance to see him in Radio City this Tuesday. Can't wait!

In no particular order, so disregard their location and just take in the players:

Duane Allman
Chet Atkins
Doc Watson
B.B. King
Terry Kath
Jack Pearson
Jimi Hendrix
Robert Johnson
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Wes Montgomery

Willie Howard (from Mayberryetta, a suburb of Hot'lanta)

Willie, I like that concept. Personally I find numerically ranking artists distasteful.

There are so many to choose from, it's almost impossible. But here it goes anyway, in no particular order.

Duane Allman
Jimi Hendrix
Chuck Berry
Robert Johnson
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Charlie Christian
Derek Trucks
Eric Clapton
B.B. King
Muddy Waters

Here's my list. For me, these aren't necessarily the most technically outstanding guitarists, but they are the ones who play the most beautifully (IMO). Here goes:

Jimi Hendrix
Duane Allman
Jimmy Page
Derek Trucks
Neil Young
Warren Haynes
David Gilmour
Robert Johnson
Jerry Garcia
Robert Fripp

I think Carlos Santana, based on his earlier work, also deserves to be mentioned.

A friend introduced him to me and he is absolutely amazing.

Most of my favorites are covered in the lists before.

Clapton
Duane
SRV
Henrdix
Derek Trucks
Warren Haynes
Jeff Beck
David Gilmour (has anyone mentioned him, i love his work in Pink Floyd)
Robert Johnson
Mark Knopfler
Eric Johnson
Robert Cray
Robert Randolph

Satriani and Vai are great, but they just don't appeal to me at all
