It's John Hammond (jr.). He and Duane were tight.

This tour has featured some nights with many guests... Its confirmed about John Hammond, but who else could we expect on these last two nights? If there's any night- these two I'd think would feature a good amount of special surprises!

Also, if John Hammonds confirmed already-- posting that he's playing on his official website- why would other sources (Sirius, 107.1 The Peak radio station, etc.) keep saying there are surprises? Wouldn't they know that John Hammond confirmed his sitting in on his site?

Pam posted news about John Hammond's appearance maybe 3 weeks ago, and obviously there are lots of people that still dont know. Why should the radio stations, be any better?

Bottom line about "surprise guests" is they are never a surprise to those who bothered to do some research and discovery. Even setlists are not surprises to those who want to know. All you have to do is go to the soundman and peak at his list.
Of course the radio stations are going to be going on about it because they want you to listen past their next tired Zep or Floyd song. Maybe they will even play an ABB song. Duh!
BTW, anyone have suggestions on how to get the stations to play ABB all year round and not just during the weeks prior to the Beacon run.

I knew about it because I am on JH's mailing list.
There are only about 7 topics here now since the newspaper and radio started quoting Butch yesterday.

As for Eric Clapton he was invited to sit in before and declined I don't see where now would be any different, or change his mind.

Folks, this has been covered over and over in probably close to 10 different threads....Butch was quoted in an article from Billboard in one of them as "all but quelling (Meaning squashing) the rumor that EC was going to appear...." I am paraphrasing but the chances of Clapton appearing are slim and none.

That said, I hope I am wrong. I just think that those who seem to think it is all but a done deal are going to be disappointed.

We should've had an over/under on the amount of threads that Clapton was going to make a guest appearance on...

I would have probably said 7 threads, but I would have lost my house as it turns out...

heh...you're right, though, Rich. It was too many...seems like it wouldn't take too much work to read through a few threads all of which someone has said that CLAPTON WILL NOT SIT IN WITH THE ABB before posting another thread saying that hey, I heard that Clapton will be sitting in tonight....

Maybe I should start another Clapton thread.....

If it ain't Clapton- who does yes seem highly unlikely now- who else could be the special guest on Sunday? Besides JH of course.

Who said there was another guest besides JH? I think he should be the only guest, he will be enough of a challenge around Derek and Warren.

Everyone's saying there's a special "hush-hush" secret guest on Sunday... John Hammond's not a surprise guest already, and according to this board he posted that he was playing on Sat/Sun a few weeks ago. Why would radios, articles etc. say there's a surprise guest--- including Butch Trucks saying there was a guest he was keeping his lips seeled about, if it was John Hammond, who already made his playing with ABB public. Maybe the radio stations werent sure of that, but Butch Trucks would know!

I am looking forward to seeing more than one guest at the show on sunday. Last year, on the last day of the beacon run, there were several, and it was amazing!

Spoonful, Shake For Me. There is one song that is a definite they will be playing and the rest they are just going to go with the flow.
