I love OWO but it just leaves me craving for more. Yea we have Instant Lives from '04-'05 but the sound quality isn't near OWO. With OWO I can crank up the volume to concert levels and feel like I'm there, you just can't do that with Instant Lives.

Is there a reason none of the Dickey songs are on OWO, were they not performing them at that time or is it a contract thing.

Dickey has not been in the band in 6 years. They wanted to give a good represenation of what the band sounds like today with "these" players! As far as contractual stuff, I don't think that made any difference at all. There are loads of great songs on OWO that typifies The Allman Brothers Band of 2001 thru today. You know, they just can't seem to make everyone happy no matter how hard they try. Everyone has their own idea of what a perfect setlist is or live album compilation. I love every damn thing this lineup does, it's that simple.

Honestly...I had my doubts when I heard Dickey left. But, once I heard that Warren had rejoined and I heard the band, those doubts quickly dissappeared.

It would've been nice to see Revival or NOTRW on there but its still a mighty fine release and I love every minute if it

I second that. Not that Jimmy Herring is not a fine guitarist but Warren is special and his return is what has driven the band to its celestial heights. We might already be looking at the end otherwise.

Actually, the reality is that it was probably preferred not to put any of Dickey's songs on there for a few reasons (all speculation) #1. Dickey's songs are well represented on the last few Live ABB releases. #2. He is no longer with them, and perhaps its a message to "doubters" that there is enough great material #3. Royalties.

Where the 2003 & 2004 Instant Live's don't really come close to OWO sound, most of the 2005 ones do, at least in my mind. I'm a bit of an audiophile (on a small level) and some of the Instant Live's from 2005 sound even better, because they're just as clean, yet a little more "raw" not as polished, but you can still hear everything... I'm loving the sound on the 2005's so much...

OWO is an incredible live album, though... I hope they do a new studio album and then I wouldn't mind another live one like OWO.

I found the previous live albums I think you are referring to on amazon.com, I am ordering them now.

I also just listened to 10-1-05 Instant Live and it does have pretty good sound for a SBD, much better than any Black Crowes Instant Lives I have.
