I have not visited this site consistantly so I may have missed this being discussed before, but it seems the instant live for this show doesn't get a lot of attention or accolades from fans. Everyone talks a lot about the Fox Box (which I'm sure IS great, but I don't own) and some others, but I've seen little on this show. I happen to think this has one of best finishes. Maybe it's b/c I saw this live and was so blown away by the end of the show:

MT. Jam>Afro Blue> MT. Jam
Whipping Post

E: Layla

Also, is my copy a fluke or does everyone's not list Every Hungy Woman for disc two?

I was also at that show. It was amazing!!
1. I Walk On Guilded Splinters
2. Every Hungry Woman
3. Trouble No More
4. Ain't Wastin' Time No More
5. Woman Across The River
6. You Don't Love Me
7. Midnight Rider
8. Stand Back
9. Dreams To Remember
10. Who to Believe
11. Statesboro Blues
12. Melissa
13. Black Hearted Woman
14. Mountain Jam
15. Afro Blue
16. Mountain Jam
17. Whipping Post
Encore
18. Layla

I have seen lots of shows, but only one Layla, which made an already great show even better.

I realized Every Hungry Woman was on disk two, but not until now did I see the official setlist has it as the second song (after Guilded Splinters). That Hungry Woman is a pest- she vanished from my 2005 Syracuse IL disk

You've got good taste. This is an excellent show for sound quality and performance.

what BWood said. That is one of my favorites by any band, period. Flawless performance sound and set list. the only MJ>AB>MJ>WP of the year. I know they did it at the Beacon w/out Whipping post but that caught the crowd off guard. You can tell by listening to it. I don't care if the show is 18 months old, it's one of the best non-Beacon shows this lineup has done.

forgot to mention it, it's not a fluke mine is missing it as well, but at least it didn't get cut off the recording like it did on the new ones from the 05 Syracuse show

Agreed! Besides the strong finish you mentioned, the "Gilded Splinters" from that show rocks! That's why it made the cut for West's Best for 2004.

I would suggest that folks who like this show would also like the 8/21/04 Tweeter Center show, if they don't have it already. If anything from '04 tops the strong finish at Jones Beach, it's the Elizabeth Reed>Afro Blue>Mountain Jam madness from that Tweeter show.

I too was at that Jones Beach show and it really stands out as one of the great ones. I was glad to see it make West's Best. It is always brought up for discussion when I run into someone else who was there. What an incredible show.

I too attended this one. Just adding another Woo-Hoo on. I also have the IL and the Mtn Jam > Afro Blue > Whipping Post is simply classic ! Never mind the Layla encore !

I took my daughter (then 4) to this show, it was her first, and only, show so far. It has great sentimental value to me. It WAS a killer show, with a great ending. Afro Blue was a great big surprise. The crowds at the Beach shows are generally pretty tame, and this was no exception.

Ooo... I LOVE that show. When I first got it, I listened to it twice in a row! Yeah, so many shows are available and so many are so amazing, that it's easy not to talk about a lot of the truly great ones often. This is a great one though!

This was the first ABB concert that I had attended in many years. Even though I still had a place in my heart for the band, the passion had waned while I was busy exploring other music. Truth be told, I hate to admit, the real reason I had purchased a ticket was to see Los Lonely Boys. Even though they cancelled, I still went and boy was I glad I did. I was completely blown away by the show, my passion was restored and I've been to about a dozen shows since then. Their performances never cease to amaze me and I keep going back to the older stuff and rediscovering what originally turned me on to this band back in the 70's in the first place.
