The Beacon run so far has been phenomenal . . . almost too good.

Please, somebody with inside info step forward and tell me they're just putting together an excellent run and my fears are groundless.

Only Wanee has been confirmed for after the Beacon run is over. But I think your fears are groundless.

I have the same fear TD, I was wondering about it last nite! I too hope/think it's just an incredible Beacon run this year!

Who knows?

Let's enjoy this while now without worry, though, because no matter what this is a Beacon run for the ages. I agree with slowhand - I hope the fears are groundless

Droog, are you wondering if this is the End of the Line? The thought crossed my mind, but I think these guys are too committed to their music to give it up. More likely, they are having more fun than they have in years- you can see it it their expressions on stage, especially Monday night.

When they were fighting with each other, they were not as innovative. The band and the band members are really tight and in a great creative groove- you can see the same ramping up in the creative juices by comparing last years NYE MULE show with this year.

I heard some rumors that Gregg was ready to give up touring. God, I hope it isn't true, but you have to remember, the three original members are all pushing 60. I can understand them tiring of the road. But that doesn't mean they won't do the Beacon Run annually, and a few select gigs.

Don't worry about it until we hear the announcement that they are retiring. All good things do eventually come to an end, but we can all rest easy knowing we'll have dTb, Oteil and TPM and Gov't Mule for years to come!

Nope, they won't do the 50 or so shows this summer like last year. But we can expect 20 or 30.

If they don't come to your town plan on traveling. I've had more fun checking out other venues in different states. And the friends you make along the way are priceless.

It came to mind before the beacon when the rumor of how many summer shows the bros. would be playing. But I saw the bros 2 times already and It was surely impossible that they will retire. Can we stop looking at age and look at how good they are right now? Go with me now: Gregg's voice is getting so much better and he knows it! He clapped after every song the 2 times i was there. Warren and Derek are having so much fun together its almost impossible to think that this is their "job." All drummers are laughing and i havent seen so many smile on Marc every! So it came to mind before the beacon, but to see the boys having this much fun and all playing great music, can but anybody to tears. Let me tell you that the boys arent going anywhere? They're just getting started!

I don't think age has much to do with it-although Gregg supposedly has stage fright, which is hard to believe for some who has been performing as long as he has.

Roy Haynes, the great jazz drummer who sat in the other night, is in his early 80s, as is Pinetop Perkins (actually, I think Pinetop is pushing 90). I think once touring gets into your blood, you almost HAVE to play, that is unless you're Bill Wyman...

fact is, WH and DT have other interests. age can be a factor...2 rules for every band in existence: there will be personel changes, and one day the band will break up.

is now that time? who knows...after the show on the 18th i'm taking a break...i too have other interests.

Hey Droogie, no point worrying about what is out of your control!

Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts! And man, has it been a fun ride so far!!!

I would say BigDave that Gregg Allman is one who has it in his blood and will walk out there as long as he can walk ANYWHERE. I wouldn't worry. A personnel change is always possible, and less shows are always possible. But I believe ABB will continue.

For about the 50th time now....

Bert Holman - the bands road Manager - has already said there would be about 35 more dates added for the summer besides the 14 Beacon shows. His word is as good as gold. Yes, That would be a bit less than normal but certainly a decent number. I would expect all the major markets which they have done before will be played at various times between June and October.

AS far as when they will hang it up...who knows - this band is playing with house money and anything they do from here on out is all gravy and a blessing.

In my opinion, when the band plays their final shows it would probably be at The Beacon for a very extended run at some point in the future...I will live and be happy with any decision they make and you should too...stop worrying already.

I don't think we'll ever see the ABB tour like they have in the past...BDOB summed it up pretty well as I see it. Between some health issues and other interests, why should they push it so hard? But not to worry...it's a truly wasted emotion...

And if you can get to only one venue, this summer, I highly recommend skipping the PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey, and hoofing it out west to either Red Rocks (the holy grail of outdoor concert venues, obviously), or if you're looking for a WAY cool change, check out The Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington (yes, that's the town's name!). It's about 3 hours east of Seattle and a beautiful ride to boot.
