On the song 'Nobody Left to Run With Anymore', Greg sings about no one knows where Jimmy has gone. He had 3 children and a lovely wife. During the song, he makes a couple of other references to 'Jimmy.'
Who is the 'Jimmy' that Greg is referring to?

I know that this is probably a newbie question, but I have to ask anyway.
thanks
Mike

The first thing I thought about was Jimi Hendrix, but later in the song it says Jimmy had three children and a lovely wife.
I don't think Jimi Hendrix was ever married. I have no idea how many children he may have had, but there are none that I know of. I certainly could be wrong.
Thanks for your reply.

Originally, the name Reginald was going to be used.

Everybody wants to know where Reginald has gone
He left town and I doubt if he's coming back to his residence

it just isn't the same, I'm glad he used Jimi and home. That is why he is Gregg Allman.

Hey there sweet family,

It's Jimmy Paladino, a former accountant for the ABB.

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

Thanks Lana,
I asked the original question and your answer makes sense. At first I thought it must be Jimi Hendrix, but I know that Jimi didn't have 3 children and a lovely wife, so that didn't match.

Hey Mike,

You're very welcome. As I recall, Jimmy quit the tour when the ABB were in Europe (London, I think) in 1991. Guess the whole currency change thing got to him ;-) Immediately after, everyone wanted to know where Jimmy had gone.

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

For the record, I'm sure I read somewhere that Jimi Hendrix did actually have at least one child, for whom he paid money to the mother. I think it was a onetime paternity payoff, and Jimi probably had nothing to do with mother and child after that. You never see this child mentioned during all the Hendrix estate battles, though.

I think Lana's explanations about this Jimmy Paladino sound the most realistic. For the sake of the interview, though, Dickey might have been taking poetic license to drop the name Jimi Hendrix. I haven't seen this DVD, so I wonder what the "three children and a lovely wife" could represent, if anything, in this reinterpretation by Dickey. Hmmm . . . Jimi's three children could be Mitch Mitchell, Noel Redding, and Billy Cox. The wife . . . ? Jimi's adoring public?

Well, maybe Lana can answer a further question -- did Jimmy Paladino have 3 children and a lovely wife? I know that Jimi Hendrix didn't, but it could have been symbolic as was said earlier.
I find Allman Brothers fans to be great people -- helpful and considerate. It must be the music. How can we turn on the Iranians and Iraqis to the ABB?
Thanks'
Mike

No it's "Tony" who's got a job three kids and a lovely wife. He's working in the Commerce Bank for the rest of his life. Nobody knows where Jimmy has gone. But I think Jimmy must have had the right idea. He packed his bags and got right out of hear.
